    Hi,

firstly, i have a basic question to the support of the possibility to build a full range simulator.
Without any limitations in movement. That would give the full moving experience including looping’s and rolls
    on a plane.

    Example:

    Questions:

    1. Do any of the available SW (SimTools, SimHub …) support a movement of bigger than 360deg?
    2. The SMC3 FW support different DC Motor controller and require a analog feedback of the position. Would it be possible to use
different drives like a stepper (dir, step control) and incremental position sensors.

That is currently just a theoretical discussion.

I would maybe build a small desc demonstrator to test it.

    thx

    Georg.

As @yobuddy notes on the software side "whats needed here is a hardware interface that knows how to roll over is all", and "SimTools can only move the sim within the range your sim provides. When using a 360 pot, then 180 each way is what it provides. So it short, you would have to do it in hardware i believe":

As to ' theoretical discussions', 360deg rigs are often raised but rarely built/completed, given the technical complexity and cost Vs the limited value with respect to the real role of a motion rig, which is to trick the brain into accepting what it knows is not real, or to put it another way, look at the rigs F1 teams and the aviation industry use, they are large and complex motion rigs, but none of them are 360deg rigs of the type you suggest.

Here are just some of the previous 360deg related rig threads to ponder:

I have also explained so many times why a full rotation simulater gives no real benefit in most of the cases. So I stop talking, for now. Just watch theese videos any you'll know why.
