Hi all first posts so bare with me...

Been reading the discussion and was
hoping you could help me in deciding which way to go...
I have two options I'm looking at
    1. Used d box with 4 x 6" HD Acuators
    OR
    2. New PT Acuators x 4
    Both systems costing the same.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

In my view PT Actuators give far more flexibility in being compatible with SimTools and with great specs.

Always depends on costs . But the Pt-actuators are very modular and having gone through the process , will worth the price in my opinion

Thanks noorbeast the flexibility is a great incentive but man those dbox's are so quite and reliable.

Thanks for your help Absomfs cost is always a factor especially when one item is new and the other used for the same price.

No problem . I have the 4 actuators setup on a simlab P1-X and simtools . Works really well . Search pt-actuators on YouTube . I have a video with a Senna helmet on :)

Is the price the same? Then you got a very good deal on the used d-box right?

    Hi all,
I have a P1-X and I'm thinking of going down this path, either 3-actuator or 4-actuator for starters, then maybe adding RTL later.

I've been reading here about the pros and cons of the number-of-actuators, the (two?) types of controller boards and etc, but I can't see anything that describes what I'd need to buy.

Looking at the PT Actuators site, do I need (say) the "4DOF MDBox Racing Kit" and an "AMC-AASD Motion Controller"? Where do I look for that information?

    Cheers,
    Roger

Did you try contacting Mr Shao here?
    http://www.pt-actuator.com/about.asp?lngLevelID1=42

He sells the AMC-AASD15A control controller as well along his actuators KIT...

The AMC-AASD15A controller and AASD-15A servo actuators are less expensive that MDBOX... fit better for DIY.

    Thanks
    Thanos

Thank you Thanos. Presumably I also need to buy the Simtools software?

Let me know if there's somewhere else I can go to read up on this for myself!

Yes, you do need to get Simtools.
You can read about the Simtools setup for the AMC-AASD15A controller in the manual:
    https://github.com/tronicgr/AMC-AASD15A-Firmware/blob/master/AMC-AASD15A_ 4DOF+TL-Simtools_manual_v2_1.pdf

Or you can use FlyPT that is free (with less supported games):
    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/flypt-mover-interface.13464/
It supports many different motion platform styles:

The FAQs are useful for common questions.

Be aware that SimTools (motion software and companion apps) and Xsimulator.net (community and community developed plugins) are different entities, see here for details: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simtools-and-xsimulator-partnership-explained.275/

You can buy a SimTools license: https://simtools.us/licenses/

DIY motion sim builders can also apply for a free DIY license, conditions apply: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/request-a-free-diy-simtools-2-0-license.262/

And you can buy access to plugins with either real money or forum activity coins: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/coins-and-how-to-download-plugins.2/

I am looking at purchasing a setup from PT-actuators as well and will be keeping a close eye on this thread. I was looking at getting the 4 actuator setup and in the future add traction loss later. The rig will be 99% being used for cars/racing. Is there a reason why I shouldn't buy this type of setup?

I am reading many of the posts on the forum and having a hard time grasping terms due to my lack of knowledge in this field.

The PT Actuators are powerful, what you may want to consider for a dedicated race rig is traction loss: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/traction-loss.174/

And/or some form of G-Seat and harness tensioner for simluating sustained forces: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/gseat.20/category

So your implying not get the install the 4 actuators and just get the traction loss for a race only setup?

I would have thought I would want the 4 actuators for suspension/road surface feedback?

Also i say 99% racing but really mean 99% driving. I need my Dirt Rally! :)
