    Hi anyone standing by.
    hug:

I am completely new to electronics and I do DIY only once in a while.
My big dream since playing on a ATARI Console in ... when was it ... 1981 ... was playing something like VR on something like a MotionRig.

I realized now is the time I could get that - yeah but I still could not afford it.

So I started DIY with YouTube assistance last year ...

by now I have a nice old RIFT CV1 that I use on my DIY Frankintosh built from a 3.1 MacPro which makes Win10 running in Bootcamp thinking it is a i7-4770K CPU @ 3.90GHz /3.59GHz, 12threads, it has 32.0 GB RAM installed and a GTX 1070 8GB GraficCard on bord :)
With this prehistoric monster I can play most VR games e.g. RRRe on full graphic specs  YEAH BiNGO :)

Now I found this great Community at the beginning of 2020 and was hoping I did not have to ask a lot.
So I started reading, looking, thinking until I thought okay you can do it ...
but I am stuck early and I really need your help.

There will be tons of pictures as you need them or if you want to participate in my journey to a hopefully working motion Simulator soon.

I live close to Munich and maybe someone as I saw on the map from nearby might give
me a little live help - as CoronaTime is a lot better around our area now?
I would drown you in beer as a favor - well if you'd like :grin

    thanx for the hint.
I will check right after I uploaded some Pictures of my Startpoint, my purchases

I purchased that beauty for little money - maybe someone has a plan to mechanise that one? RNR meiner.jpg

-> I already searched the forum but could not find anything like that:

Maybe someone has some plans for me?

Ups you are right the weight is too far away then right. I will change that and put the Seat right on a platform.

    Hi Noorbeast,

I got that error over and over again ... Arduino could not find 'sabertooth.h'
I started from new setting all up ...
AND I found my MISTAKE !!!

I never knew where to save the ARDUINO Libraries.
And I always kept them in the wrong folder.
    Finally I put them in C: User ->Documents -> Arduino -> Library.

Now I could upload the SPS Sketch and I get some reply from SMC3Utility.
And I managed to get one motor running.

:nerd Edit after a while and more experience:
My problem/mistke was never WHERE to put the sabertooth libraries --> THIS WAS WHAT I DID WRONG:
In order to avoide that "sabertooth.h file missing" error it is MANDATORY to start the Arduino IDE app FIRST and have it continously running while you THEN download and install the sabertooth libraries. After you did it in this follow up you are able to upload your SPS sketch without any problem/error

Tell me if this was helpfull for U now ... as it made me crazy to find out  back in my MoSiRig-Baby-Times .... now I might be around the knowledge of a 2year old :D

Very tiered now. I will stop for toady (18:50 Berlin Time)

To help others too I add the next pictures that shows where I put the ARDlibraries NOW that it works.

Thank you for keeping fingers crossed for me - not sooo frustrated anymore - hope to get happy tomorrow.

    Later from BAVARiA,
    Yours ART FLY

I like your power supply and motor drive box. Nicely done. I have all those parts just sitting on the floor and they fill with dust, plus I'm always worried about breaking a wire. I need to do something similar to what you did.

What are you trying to do with the Rock 'n Ride? Does it not work? Are you wanting to update it with a more modern control system?

Hi cgodwin nice to have you involved!
Well the nice box does not count to my honor. I bought this box on the internet from an abundonned project. https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/ger-2dof-motionseat-with-rseat-rs1.13219/

I had to redo all the cabeling.

The postal delivery service kicked the parcel around a lot, so also one Hall360sensor was broken. The case for the resistors were broken ... Still I also like the Box for all the electronics from the beginning too for the same reason you mentioned not to get everything covered with dust lately :)

I do not think the Rock'n'Ride Chair can be brought back to live with the actuator set up it came with. But mabe you know how to find a suitable new interface.

I thougt it might be cool to move it with a belt or a chain just like in the YT video I posted. But I have no idea how to handle the Motor control for that either :( Maybe just gear it with levers o_O ?

As I asked - I'd need all possible help. Thank you for your responses.
Please let me know how you would do it.

Maybe I should not build a full motion platform with my motors (I have 4 of these, but I think only 3 of them will work) but really mechanise the RNR chair and later position it on a lottle turn platform for tractionloss.

    Hi capt. godwin,

I just read your thread about your journey to the nice joyrider you built for you and your family.
    WoW I am impressed :) !!!

Well as you asked me about my RNR chair ... and reading your thread ...
I would really like to build something out of my RNR !!!

Do you still like the car racing experience you get out of your simulator?
My thought is that for car racing there are understandable thoughts to make everything react fast with short axes. But what is your impression. When you never had another thing like the joyrider/RNR chair would you still say it isn't more alround comtatible - as I think flying with those angles reachable with your Rig must be awesome.

Btw I think the RNR is somehow a furniture designed for enthusiasts like us
    - it has to be kept and not forgotten ;)

Am I right am I wrong.
The discussion is open to you Sir and anyone who wants to help :popcorn

Hi gadget999 - I got one motor working pretty well with the Utility. I think my other motor is damaged. I will try with the spare ones I bought on ebay (I was lucky to get 2 more as the swiss manufacturer is out of buisness)

What do you think about the engines? I posted some info Pictures about them above.
    CU around, Yours ARTi
