    Its me first post on here so bear with me, I am wondering if anyone knows what the best motion rig is to build and everything that I'll need so I can compile a shopping list and start picking parts off the list.

    'Best' is a relative term, and depends on the criteria covering many things, such as budget, skills, parts availability and so on.

    Doing some research and planning is time well spent, and the community here can then help you out as you formulate your ideas about what you want to build and even where you can source parts from.

    Assuming you’ve trawled the internet looking for cool rigs, what have you found that you like the concept of? And what sort of space do you have to build it? And then have a think about what your budget is, how much time you have, how skilled you are with tinkering and building, do you get bored after a while and will you loose interest, is this for cars or planes or something else, is it for VR ?

    Maybe make that your start point and come back here with some answers to the above and people might suggest a starting point.

    I jumped in too fast with grand ideas about huge fast motion for planes and cars using VR. I’ve now invested over $10k in my 6DoF linear actuator rig and it’s about 70% complete. LOL. But I’m very happy I have it and it will be a beast when complete.

    Thank u both for your replys, I will certainly check out the links in the fist reply, as tot he the second reply, budget isn't really fixed, I may well get laughed out of town here but was thinking of getting bits in bits if u know what I mean, so here and there,every now and then get more components, like buy a few motors when I can, then buy the frame work when I can, to clear it up, this will be a rig purely for cars and its defo something I won't get bored of its something I've wanted since I first knew tech like this was possible, I suppose a really good question here would be is it cheaper to build ur own or buy one ready built, also @noorbeast is there places where I can find measurements and scamatics of other peoples rigs, space, I'll make available to have such a great thing at my disposale, for cars and racing and car simluations I'm what I suppose u could call a professional amateur and this would be the final piece aside VR headset that would really take is tot eh next level in a personal sense.

    DIY gives you more bang for your buck, but of course takes time in planning, building and configuring. But you do get exactly what you want, and if done right your rig will often outperform many commercial offerings.

    You can start cheap, as in $0, and work up from there.
