    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF
    Hi all,

I am in the process of setting up my 2dof sim (again - 3rd time in total) on a new PC build.

I have hit my first snag as such as SMC3 doesn't want to communicate with my Arduino Uno - Has previously without issue on my old PC.

Arduino libraries are installed, Sabertooth is installed (shouldn't make any diff with comms anyway?).

    - when I start SMC3 my sim releases motors and re-engages just as I would expect, however I get a Comms Error from SMC3 and no communication between the Arduino and SMC3 - Abort, Retry, Ignore message.

I have set the com port to 3 in the *.ini file (which is correct) - Comm Port in SMC3 Utility shows Comm Port 3.

Have rebooted. Tried another USB port (PC assigned same Com 3 port).

    Am I missing something obvious?

    Thanks in advance, Rob

Does SMC3 testing work as expected, independent of SimTools?

Is the SimTools Interface Settings properly configured?

Please post pictures of all of your settings.

Thanks for your quick reply noorbeast.

I had not yet gotten too simtools setup, stuck on the first hurdle and I need to fire up my old PC to copy my profiles etc.

Although I haven't gotten SMC3 to communicate with my Arduino I have since figured out why it wont.

A few of us have had issues earlier this year with default baud rates causing our rigs to flip out/twitch and go nuts randomly, then I recalled BlazinH saying that SMC3 wont work unless we restore original baud rate (jumpered).

    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/help-to-diagnose-2dof-crash.13639/page-2

Trigen said "Sadly it won't work with the new baud rate so you will need to unplug port 8 reset and set things up and then reconnect port 8 . I was going to mention this too and hope for an update that would allow us to use the smc app without going trough these hoops"

BlazinH said "I forgot to mention that. Unfortunately I don't have the source code for SMC3 Utilities and 500000 baud is its only option. And if I remember correctly its author stated a while back that it is on an old computer that he no longer uses so I don't know if he can even access it anymore."

So consider this issue resolved, and hopefully it may help others with the same baud rate deal to quickly figure out why - including my future self most likely.

    Cheers Rob
