Well it looks like Microsoft has pulled the plugin on XP.
In short, I can't even get to SimTools.us with ie on xp anymore.
Looks like after the last big malware attack they simply turned off some https access.
I can't even get to some of their sites. lol

Basically we need to figure out how to make the PC get to SimTools.us
    Still trying a few things.

@italo4, will you see if you can get to the simtools site with ie buddy?

    thanks for the interesting feedback!
I can get to simtools site with Firefox (my standard browser), but currently not with IE using WinXP SP3.

Yes, the ie part is the problem.
The problem is the .net app is gonna go to the site just like ie would.
If we can get ie to work, so should the reg app.

    Hi,
I consider running two operating systems (windows xp and windows 8.1) on one HDD creating 2 partitions:
-) Boot from Windows 8.1 partition just to get the licence: run registration.exe on the second partition and shut down
-) Boot from Windows xp to run the simulator software
The question is: will simtools "remember" the registration activities on the other partition with 8.1? Hardware keeps 100% unchanged.
    What do you think?

Any other ideas to get simtools running on a XP System? So far still no connection using IE to simtools.us

    Best regards, Harald

I have tried everything I can think of.
I think they done broke it.
I can't even pull in windows sites on xp anymore.

Why not just upgrade the xp machine to vista even? :D
The dual boot does not share the same space, so the file would still not be found by xp i believe.
I believe it comes down to xp not fully supporting https anymore.
    It's just broken I believe.

If you need a refund italo4 let me know buddy.
Not trying to stick anyone with something they can't use.
    take care,

    Yes, sorry buddy.

I'm not sure about a virtual machine, but I would expect it to install in its own space.
Unfortunately, it looks like dropping XP is a trend, as even Firefox is dropping XP.
WordPress has officially dropped XP also and the majority of Microsoft own sites don't work on it either.

Pretty laim as simtools runs on it fine. lol

It´s a pity, but thank you for your patient support!

Conclusion: registration.exe does not run on a Windows XP machine anymore.

I will ask for a refund on the simtools site.

    Best regards, Harald

Technically, the reg app runs fine on XP, but internet connectivity is broken on XP now, so the app can't 'call home' anymore.

I know for the end user the result is the same.
But I wanted to leave a note that its not something we can fix on our side of things, https access just does not work anymore.
    Take care all,
    yobuddy

    Hi,
I had a look on the ipvanish site (never heard before it): one month for $7,50 and 7-day-money-back guarantee. I think it´s worth a try.
I will let you know how it worked! Just opening registration.exe using ipvanish service, right?
    Best regards, Harald

    @Tech2123
    Yes, they broke it buddy.
I have tried everything I can do to bring XP back to life.
But it simply has outdated https certificates that will no longer allow us to register on XP.

I thought maybe if I altered SimTools.us a bit I could get it back in action.
But it didn't work out that way I'm afraid. o_O
I'm fear XP is dead. :(
