    Hi guys,
I am new user and I presented myself in the appropriate section.
I have good mechanical skills, poor electricity and software.
I would like to start with a new 3DOF workstation project.
Do not look at the engines, my mechanical inspiration is this:

I would like a 150kg post, powerful and fast moving, with oversized components to be safe.
First question: the choice of engines.
Which engine is better DC or AC?
Which is easier to assemble as components and connections DC or AC?

Thanks in advance for your kind answers.
    Hello.

    Thank you very much.
I already had a quick look and I saw very interesting things.
When I have more time, I am better off.
    Thank you again.

    I looked at these engines.

    Is it to be trusted?
    Better 12v or 24v?

    Thank you

Schema 3DOF Milani.jpg Schema 3DOF.jpg Ok, my project continues.
I found the engines that I fully meet my needs, robust, powerful, fast, reliable and purchased in Italy ...... TRANSTECNO 24V 350W 3000RPM 50 RPM FINAL.
    foto motore transtecno.jpg
They are not cheap but fall within my budget.
I list all the components that I need for the 3DOF taken from the scheme that I found in my thousand searches.
    N. 3 Transtecno ECM 350w-24v-3000 / 50rpm engines
    N. 1 arduino ONE REV3
    N. 2 Sabertooth 2x32
    N. 2 power supply 24v - 1000W - 41A
    N. 3 potentiometer FCP22E 10K

I NEED YOU for a confirmation if all the components are good and if the scheme to be followed is the right one, in the scheme will be replaced the Sabertooth syren 1x25A with a 2x32.

I await your kind reply to buy and leave with assembly.
    Thank you.

Can not find these FCP22E 10K potentiometers.
I found these on amazon: Sourcingmap - Rv24Yn20S 10K Ohm Single Turn, Carbon Rotary Taper Potentiometer.
Am I ok for my 3DOF?
    Thank you.

I'm sorry Victor, but I haven't bought the resistance yet.
The type of resistance was my next question for XSIM experts, does anyone know the resilience type?
I did research but haven't found it yet.
Now I try to write also at dimensionengineering.
    We hope to have answers.

I found these web photos of resistances applied to sabertooth.
They are 2 different projects but they have the same resistances, so they should be fine ..... 10W - 5 ohm.
Is there no one who can confirm us ???
    Thank you.

    Thanks MarkusB.
My engines are Transtecno 24V 350W 3000rpm 20A with 1000w 40 Amps power supplies, see post above.
    Dimensionengineeringcalculator:
    Volts 24
    Max Current: 20 Amps
    result
1.2 Ohms dissipates 480 Watts at 20 Amps
    Alternatives
2 Ohms dissipates 288 Watts at 12 Amps
What resistance should I buy, Ohms and watts?
    Thank you.

    Hi guys,
my 3DOF begins to take shape.
Almost everything has arrived, only the power supplies are missing .... in 15 days.
The prototype will be on a wooden platform, then when it is all working, I will build iron.
See you soon with new updates.

    Update.
I changed the layout of the engines, so the measurements of the upper platform will be more correct.
I will also change the resistances for the regenerated power, reading other posts I understood that they were under dimensioned. I took 3 ohm 100w, we hope they are the right ones for my 350w 24v motors.

    Hi Hannibal,
for me building actuator is very difficult and long.
I prefer to buy gear motors.
The ones I bought are a bit expensive but they are very good and powerful and then they are made in Italy at 100km from where I live, they arrived in 4 days.
I chose the arduino + sabertooth + power supply + simtools configuration because I have read that I understand that it is the easiest way for me.
I am not a mechanic, I am not an electronic, I am not a softruerist.
    I hope I didn't go the wrong way ....
Sorry for my English ... I use the translator.

For this motor power dimension enginering suggest at leats 200w 3ohm resistor....I think for channel. so probably yuo need not only 3 but 6 resistor, 2 resistor in parallel for each channel . this mean 200w 3,4ohm resistor for channel.
I hope I'm not wrong but it should be so. the required resistance is for each channel. therefore, if I connect 2 motors to one board and then use both the two channels available, the 100w 6.8 ohm resistors must be 4 per board, connected in pairs in parallel so that each channel has a resistor value of 200w 3, 4 ohm

    Quite right.
After several confirmations I bought these resistors that I will put in parallel for each motor.
    They just arrived ….

    New arrivals.
The levers have arrived ... beautiful big .... oversized.
The posts and the spacers, thus increases the possibility of angles of the upper base.
Soon I will post photos of the assembled pieces.
