    Hi all,

I'm looking to build myself a 6 DOF rig. I want to use it mostly for IRacing and Assetto Corsa. My main goal is to have a feeling for traction loss, but I would to feel all the other axis to.

I need help for the electronic part. I can manage the platform by my self, but I am at a loss when it comes to what I need for servo controller and all.

My plan is to build a mini prototype with RC servos, then, when I get everything figured out, I will build the real thing.

I tryed looking around the forum and the internet, but there is so much information that I am more confused.

Can you help me figure this out. What do I need to get the signal from the computer to the simulator? If I use 6 motors, how many do I need? Servo controller, 1 for each motor?

The way that I understand it right now is, computer sends to Arduino, Arduino sends to controller for higher voltage for the motors, POT sends back position to the Arduino. Am I on the right track?

Thanks a lot for your help and understanding my newbies questions.

As for a little back ground, I can weld, solder, CAD design, 3D print.

Any 6DOF is an ambitious first project. So doing some research before getting in any deeper is time well spent.

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Starting with a model is a good idea, see te FAQs here: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/build-a-model-to-test-your-design-ideas.136/

Also use the Advanced Google search on the Recent page to find 6DOF projects, then filter by date to get the most recent to study, as there has been a lot of member innovation of late.

It is a good idea to post your design and parts list before ordering anything, to give members a chance to look it over and avoid any costly mistakes.

i see three groups of DIY 6dof groups right now
    a) arduino with monster moto or sabertooth (3 pairs each driving 6 motors)
    b) Odrive with brushless motors..
    c) Thanos AMC-AASD15A servo controller with 6x servo motors kits
