I am part of a team looking to build a 6dof aircraft motion simulator for a capstone engineering project.

I have been trying to gather as much information as I can. Throughout our readings, we have found a split between users implementing linear actuators and users implementing swing arms attached to a servo motor. I am wondering if anyone could help us with reasoning as to use one over the other or show me a past discussion about this subject.

Ballscrew linear actuators are significantly mechanically more efficient that wormdrive gearboxes, though both can be made to work.
