Hi all. About half a year ago i acquired a logitech g29 steering wheel and found out that sim racing is... quite fun! Så now i'm gonna go all in!

I'm going to build a 2dof motion sim with two 22v 300 watt wheelchair motors. The frame is going to be made from square steel tube and is going to be made as compact as possible, as i don't have a lot of space.

I'm currently about 3 week into the build and i think this is a good time to show my progress.

    Parts list (as of now):

    - Two 22v 300 watt wheelchair motors

    - Dual VNH5019 h-bridge motor controller (maybe two of those is one is not enough):
    https://www.pololu.com/product/2507

    - One 600w power supply with lead-acid bettery connected in parallel:
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Regulate...hash=item235d27d655:m:mw6z29sNgNrg9qr7WY2EZng

    Quick questions:
Is it possible to just use one 600w power supply with two 300w motors? Under peak load the motors might pull more that 300watt and therefore overload the power supply. Is this a problem if i connect a big lead-acid battery in parallel, so the power supply charges the battery, and the battery handles the high current.

I am aiming for about 20 degrees of tilt, which would equal about 0,35g. Is that overkill? Am i better off by having 10 degrees and quicker motion?

Some pictures of my progress (in no particular order):

In use our rigs hav significant power spikes when constantly moving, so you need some psu overhead to accommodate that. Personally I prefer a psu per motor, and these days a psu is pretty cheap.

    Hi there

I have now gotten the motors to work with simtools. I still haven't figured out how to get motion out of LFS though...

Can't wait to get on with the physical build once i have figured out all the computer stuff!

The first part of the frame is now complete. This is about how far i can come without all the parts that i am still waiting on. I still need the seat, power supply, rod end bearings, and one more VNH5019 motor driver.

It's made from 25 and 20mm steel tube and weighs about 7,3 kg.

    It's coming together very nicely.

Edit: The color is subject to change...

    @noorbeast

As there is not much to do on the physical build right now (because i am waiting on parts), i'm thinking about getting all the plugins to work for the games that i am going to play. Do i qualify for a free license key? I think i have been a member for more that 30 days and i've got a working prototype so...

    Thanks

Sorry no not yet, as the rig and build thread have not progressed until your rig is ready for testing, which is one of the requirements:
