    No there should be no need, pre-release bug testing testing covered systems all the way back to XP.

    Do you have a specific issue?

    The sim does not work with live for speed

    It crashes simtools game manager when it starts up

    It does however work with Kart Racing Pro !

    Next job is to download rfactor and aee if it works on there too

    If LFS is crashing Game Manager then there is an issue that needs to be investigated and resolved.

    how do you know which axis is which and does each dof refer to the number of motors you run ?

    thanks for the advice noorbeast

    i have had the sim in motion with Kart Racing Pro, but not yet had the steering wheel and pedals inside the sim

    i will knock everything back to approx 15% and take it from there :)

    (next project will be to build a FFB steering wheel)

    i posted regarding FFB wheels in the wheels section buy got no reply

    i have a couple of wheels i have built up over the last year or so - i have had them working with the ps4 with something called a gimx converter which converts the output so it is compatible with a PS4 device

    logitech Driving Force x 2 -- a ps2 / pc wheel -- [IMG]

    logitech Driving force GT x 2 -- a ps3 / pc wheel -- [IMG]

    a logitech G25 wheel -- ps3 / pc -- [IMG]

    i am guessing the G25 is the best wheel

    i would like to modify the wheel by fitting a real racing wheel and maybe adjust the power of the ffb

    does anyone have any suggestions ?

    is it worth me leaving the wheel(s) alone and building a new one ?

    should i buy something that is already built ?

    how does the fanatec compare ?

    a bit more progress on the sim

    i have decided to use the G25 wheel with a genuine racing wheel fitted to it

    today i have hacked out the area where the steering wheel will go and have done a quick test with rfactor and a force gt wheel

    video is below - was all going well till the passenger tried to get out !

    the sim settings are approx 15%

    do the forces look to be in the correct direction ?

    ie turn left - sim tips left?
    brake - sim tips back?

    Nice - I like the shell :D. In a 2DOF for the most part when you turn left the sim will actually roll to the right to simulate the force of sway (as you don't have a real sway) and you being pushed to the outside of the car. Same when you brake, the sim will pitch forward to simulate the force of surge moving you forward, as you don't have a real surge in a 2DOF. If although you want some real roll and pitch data as well, it all becomes a bit of a balancing act with a 2Dof, as they will fight against the applied surge and sway forces ;). Easier to just do each force in isolation and go from there. FAQ is your friend.

    From my experience they are a big part of the 'driving' experience so, buy the best your budget can afford either new/second hand. Fitting a bigger wheel to a g25/27 can upset the power balance, as the motors are not that big, so maybe not a good idea. Unfortunately they will all look/feel like toys when you move to a Direct Drive servo wheel :rolleyes:- so never try one :p. As for modifying, or building your own - there is nothing better then building stuff. Although no guarantees it will be any better than a purchased one.

    I did some good testing on the sim today

    i stripped the axes back to only sway and surge
    both are set at 40%

    the problem i was having is one motor would stop working and a reboot would fix it

    by tuning the PID i got it under control

    P=40
    I=1
    D=0
    S=1

    (i might have a go at adding heave next to see what happens)

    finally the wheel and pedals are in :)

    here is a video of my son at the wheel, poor lad thought the clutch was a brake pedal !

    from time to time the sim shuts down one motor - pressing the reset button on the arduino brings everything back to life - any suggestions ?

    Likely a driver/power supply issue which is shutting down due to overheating (don't know how good you driver cooling is?), or big regenerative spikes from the motors (computer power supplies don't like these spikes). Could try a car battery after the power supplies to absorb some of the spikes, or upgrade to better Drivers/power supplies. Is it worse when you are in the sim (bigger load)?
