After lurking in the backgrounds for a few years in this forum, I have finally decided to put together my first motion platform. I idea was to build something cheap to get a full grasp of the concepts and then evolve from there.

Parts I have gathered so far.

    - Two 12V Nissan Wiper motors. I was lucky enough to find a semi mirrored pair so they dont look so silly when they are mounted up
    - Arduino Duemilanove. This was one of the first arduinos I bought like 5 years ago, as was kicking around in the drawers in the office. I normally use pro micros for my other projects.
    - Two Aliexpress special Monster moto drivers.
    - 1200W Cooler master computer PSU.
    - Stack of 20x20mm alloy box tubing which was an old camper awning or something

So far I have managed to flash the micro with SMC and got the electronics working. I have not worked out how to mount the pots yet, but it should not be too hard. At the mo I have just have been bench testing and it seems to be communicating at least. Finding some odd things like when adjusting the limits on one pot 1 will move motor 2. It's defiantly not reversed, so ignoring it until I get everything mounted up.

Tested simtools via UDP and it working mint, just need to buy/get a licence to actually test it on a game to see it in action.

Next step is mount all this stuff I have on my desk into a frame of some sort.....

I have seen that doc and thought that might have been my issue with "cross talk" between the two motors, but I checked the wiring and definitely I have an isolated ground so ruled that out.

Have you connected both pots? Use Live for Speed for testing under the Simtools Demo.

Yes I have connected both pots, but they are not attached to the motors yet. That is the plan for next week.
I downloaded LFS and tried it with the default profile in simtools but it didnt do anything, so I thought I might have to wait until I had a licence before anything would work. The testing of the axis work from fine within simtools tools, but nothing coming through from the game.

LFS is fully functional, even in demo mode.

It would help if you posted pictures of all your settings.

You need to create a LFS profile, the Default profile is for manual testing using Output Testing.

I have already created the profiles. I have run the tuning center but everything in the green section/output is always 0. It seems to capture the limits ok.

Have you patched LFS for motion using Game Manager?

Yes I have patched it and it shows up as blue/connected. No firewalls. Check the tuning again, and looks like nothing is coming through from the game as I captured again and the max/min are the same and dont change from my last.

Did you drive a few laps in LFS before patching. If not unpatch, drive some laps and repatch. It generates some needed files.

    Sorted.
    I uninstalled, reinstalled LFS.
Started LFS up with NO plugin installed. IMPORTANT
    Patched LFS

Now is working. Some how in the patching didnt work and noticed that the cfg file had only one line of code it in.

    A bit of an update.

So I have assembled everything into a old box crate and got the pots mounted. They are attached by some duck tape at the mo, but have a rubber coupling to join the pot and the motor shaft.
Was stuck for awhile when one axis was hitting the firmware overload and not centering, but worked out that since the pots are linear devices, and I was mirroring them, the wiring also had to be mirrored.
A trap for young players if not paying attention, and didnt actually see it mentioned in any of the tuts.

Have it linked to LFS and seems to be working fine, just need to get a profile setup so it is not hitting the limits within the game.

Next will be working on the UJ pivot and actual platform.
