    Hi Xsim, First post here.

I used the long Veterans Day weekend to build my 2DOF sim which arrived last week. I used the SimTools Game Engine settings posted by Ravens from DCS forums (he has been very helpful) and the export.lua he suggested by SteveH (here on this forums) and got everything working with DCS 2.1 which was great (chair moved correctly when sim fired and running).

The issue I am having is I am getting jerky motion, even though I am using the .lua file recommended on the xsim forum by SteveH to solve jerky motion. Does anyone else have any tips for fixing this issue?

Not sure if it is a axis setting issue, filter issue, or .lua

    Thanks for any help!

We have specific forums for questions relating to commercial rigs, so please use those for all future queries: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/simtools-pro-entertainment-version.176/

    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/commercial-simulators-and-peripherie.52/

There is even a dedicated thread for the dofreality: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/low-cost-2dof-3dof-motion-simulator-dof-reality.8570/

The possible quick answer to your question is to only ever use a plugin with the specific version of a game it was tested against, as game changes for any plugin that uses a hook method to extract data, particularly from Alpha point release game version, are very likely to break motion.

Ok, thanks Noorbeast, I will post on those forums. In the mean time, can you point me to more information on plugins? Maybe even DCS plugins?

    G'day Brennan,

Does the jerkiness only happen in DCS?

DOF Reality rigs have been reported as prone to balance issues, so make sure yours is properly set, there should be a slight weight bias on the motors to minimise the effect of play in wordrive gearboxes: DOF Reality

BrassEm, yes, I've only tried this and experienced this in DCS, 2.1 and now 1.5

Have you properly balanced the rig?

Please post pictures of all of your settings and a video that shows the rig movement and game screen at the same time.

I attached the peripherals as planned with DOF Reality in my order (HOTAS stick center, rudder pedals, HOTAS Throttle Left, and Rift Sensor Right)

I wasn't given directions on how to best balance it.

I am working with DOF reality using SMC3 testing script, and the sine test. See attached pics for motor 1 and 2 output.

I noticed motor one creates the jerky movement on the downward movement only. Motor 2 seems smooth as it makes the sine wave and Motor 1 is smooth movement on up movement. Could this be a motor issue? I also have more weight (HOTAS throttle and gear box) on the side of Motor 1.

I will post pics of rig running and screen, just need to get the selfie stick out since it is hard to do with one person.

    G'day Brennan,

From your pics Motor 1 definitely has a problem.

On the graph the yellow line represents the power the motor is using. With motor 2 the operation is good with steady increase and decrease of power as the load is lifted and lowered.

Motor 1 is a different story. Power is steady on lifting the load okay. But see the oscillations of power as the load is lowered. To me that indicates that the load is not stable.

Double check your mechanical couplings for motor1. There is slop/backlash somewhere in the mechanism there.

If not, take off your HOTAS and gear box and see what happens. Might need to counterbalance these?

Looks like Kp needs to be increased quite a bit.
