Hello all, I just received my D-Mover H4 two days ago and built it within an hour, firing up Simtools has been daunting yet after several hours of reading the guide multiple times and FAQs, I was able to get motion worked out. I am not sure why much of my settings are the way I have them, but last night I got the motion smoothed out and feeling incredible in DCS.

I've yet to see anyone else with this unit, so guess I may be an early adopter. I have much to learn for settings and barely understand any of this.

Is there anyone else here with this unit? Tips or suggestions for this setup?

I bought this for flight sim purposes, focusing primarily on helicopters. I use DCS, MSFS and X-Plane, so sharing of tips, profiles or general flight sim knowledge for helicopters is much appreciated when it comes to Simtools.

Playing around with various helos, it is evident the telemetry from the game to the motion rig varies. The Huey feels like a bucking bronco vs all else, granted I understand the difference in tech in most of the helicopters in game. I am having major difficulties understanding why the rig does what it does per various settings but from just fiddling around I have gotten everything to line up nearly perfectly with the movements seen in game so far.

So my first question, and I've seen people ask about this over the years on Facebook groups, which now I can't find the posts, are:

Game Limits - Max/Min: What does this translate directly to in game?
FLT? Setting: Under Axis Assignments next to the percentage. what these settings actually translate too in game directly, I tried smoothing between 0% and 100% and it made the rig feel less smooth overall.

So if there are any tips with breaking down understanding of things like I'm 5 years old that would be great. Most of the guides clearly explain things... but only if I understand what any of it meant or translated to in the first place. Plus mostly I am finding Simtools V2 guides. I am using V3.

    Thank you.

Can you please post pictures of all of your settings, including the tuning center Min/Max settings while in-game with the Huey.

Is that a setting for an overlay while in game to see what it is doing?

I do randomly get a hard buck to yaw so I have to put it to negative 900 to lighten the random jolts every so often. I'll get some screen shots of the software when I can soon.

    Yes an in-game overlay.

I don't know how to get an overlay in game. This is in the software though.

    Do grab the:

    QuickStart Guide:
    https://simtools.us/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/QuickStart-Guide-for-SimTools3.pdf

    And SimTools v3 Manual:
    https://simtools.us/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/SimTools-v3.pdf

Set everything back to Defaults, like Intensity, and do not use filters until you have a solid base profile. Think of Filters as a final way to polish a solid base motion profile.

Manually set the Min/Max values to 20, Save, then run Capture for Min/Max while in the game flying around, going through all the axis ranges, then Save.

From there manually tweak the settings. Raising the Tuning Center values will soften the motion over a greater axis movement, lowering the value will do the reverse. See here for an expanded explanation: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/graphic-simtools-parameter-adjustment.9054/#post-113925

The final Min/Max values will be much larger for a flight profile than a race profile.

See the Tuning tips in the FAQs for more details: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

    Thank you.
I read through everything again and have a little better of an understanding now. I ran the capture and these were the limits it gave under fairly aggressive flying. I can't seem to figure out the random yaw buck I get. It's quite intense, especially in the Huey, Apache, and Gazelle. No rhyme or reason I can tell, so bad I am considering turning off yaw completely until I figure this out.

I can be flying steady, not really receiving any input from the motion, then BAM left BAM right. I am sure this is user error at this point in time, but I have tried everything I understand so far.

I dialed intensity back to 100 to reset and I had to reel it in to 10 again eventually. 100 is way too fast for helicopters, 10 matches the movement seen in game to real life seemingly one to one. Didn't touch the filters yet as I am still learning them as well, plus you said wait on filters lol.

I'm pretty sure I fixed the intense yaw buck. I have yaw at a smoothing of 50%

All DCS helos so far are good except the Gazelle, just has heave in a constant turbulent like effect. As if it's haptics, yet I don't that anywhere in less it's heave that needs smoothing. I can't figure out how to setup aircraft specific profiles.

What you could try is temporarily disabling the other Axis by setting them as - and just concentrate on refining Yaw.

It could be that the Min/Max values for pitch and roll are still too low, rather than an issue with Intensity, but it is hard to say without being on the rig. A quick test would be to set them both at 150 and see if that tames them down a bit. Again disabling other axis and doing each axis one at a time may help.

Your advice is consistently appreciated. I will isolate the movements to refine them.

Is there a way to get motion while on the ground too? As in feeling the helo lifting on the Skids or wheels prior to lift off. It feels like the motion starts when airborne only.

I still have a difficult time understanding the max/min fully. I'll just do what you suggest as you clearly have a profound understanding of all things motion.

Can you please post your experience and needs to the dedicated SimTools v3 Beta thread, as it is possible to set ground and air profiles, and useful for that to be teased out in the Beta thread, plus feed into making that clear in the official SimTools v3 thread documentation: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/simtools-v3-public-beta.17329/

I will do so. I'll read through the thread as best as I can manage and understand as well.
