    Hello All,

I'm just starting my journey to build my DIY 3 DOF motion sim. Based on what I have read, I plan to go with an Arduino Uno and 2x32 Sabertooth Motor Drivers. But I am a little confused on how you control 3 DOF with the Arduino Uno and Sabertooth controllers. I have found the sketch for the 2 DOF, but is there a sketch for the Arduino Uno to utilize 3 DOF with the Sabertooth 2x32? I know I need multiple Sabertooth controllers, but do I need multiple Arduinos or is one Arduino Uno sufficient? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Ray

Hi, and thank you for the link! This is what I was looking for. I will read through this.

Based on what I quickly gathered, I'm assuming you use the same code (SPS) for both Arduinos? Just add the second controller to the second Arduino and use it for the 3 channel?

    Thank you so much,
    Ray

While there other code options the modified SMC3 for Sabertooth gives a handy graphical interface for setting the different ports and settings for each Arduino.

So yes the same SMC3 code is installed to both Arduinos, the second Sabertooth would control the 3rd motor, but it also has a unique port assigned.

    Thank you noorbeast,

One more question. Is the SMC3 code just for testing and setting the parameters and ports? What is the difference between the SPS and SMC3? Do I need both or just one?

    Thanks again!
    Ray

SPS is a name for a modified version of SMC3 specifically for the Sabertooth.
