    Welcom @UAlberta Formula SAE.

Funding is always an issue for students.

While I can see the attraction of using the old frame keep in mind that the more mass the greater three cost to control it.

new user here, just saying HI!

I have a 2DOF with SCN6 and I'd like to get that running with PCars2 or RaceRoom.
it seems I need the SimTools with a license and I also need to download plugins separately in order to be able to play anything. did I get this right?
the SimTools package itself is not useful with any game?

    thanks!

    Welcome @mirel lazar.

You will find the answers to common questions in the FAQs: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

The free version of SimTools includes the fully functional plugin for Live For Speed, specifically for testing purposes, but any other plugin requires a licensed version of SimTools.

Conditions apply but DIY sim builders can get a free copy of the DIY SimTools license to use with any plugin: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/request-a-free-diy-simtools-2-0-license.262/

SimTools licenses are also available for commercial and Pro use: https://simtools.us/license/

Plugins can be accessed via Xsimulator.net by using forum activity coins or real money: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/coins-and-how-to-download-plugins.2/

Spamming for coins is not allowed: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/forum-rules.9527/

SimTools (software) and Xsimulator.net (community, including plugin development) are two different things, see here for more information about the partnership and revenue sharing arrangements between the two : https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simtools-and-xsimulator-partnership-explained.275/

it is what I thought, thanks!
my sim is not exactly a DIY as I've bought the rig and actuators and it doesn't apply to the DIY license.
anyway, your answer clarified it and I understand the business model regarding the separation between SimTools and the plugins now that you've confirmed it.
I'll most likely acquire a simple plugins package for my purpose.

    thanks very much

    Hello everybody!

I'm new here, I'm from Germany and I've been planning a 6DoF for a long time
Platform for flight simulators. And I have some questions for you. I will post this as soon as possible here in forum in my own build thread
    put.
I've been successfully connecting and testing SimTools with MSPhysics in SketchUp. Elite Dangerous is already connected in SimTools. Currently I am collecting the hardware.

    Best regards

Hi guys Edwin Gerrits from the Netherlands here. Long time simracer and after building a few DD wheels i now am going the motion way for the first time.
I stumbled against the "diy-3dof-dbox-style-rig-with-4-x-750-watt-linear -actuators-100-mm" and found it such a nice project that i registered here because that is what i'm gonna build. (fyi 3D prints ordered already)

Thanks for having me and for this forum
