    Welcome @codacom.

You can duel post in your native language as long as you also include an English translation.

We have bi-lingual speakers from many different language groups so if Google Translate really messes it up they can help clarify what was intended.

We have a FAQ section on peripherals that may be on interest: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/diy-peripherals.13/category

Flight pedals can be created pretty cheaply: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/rudder-pedals.64/

A FFB stick is far more problematic. There was a 6DOF conceptual idea, but I am not aware of others: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/6dof-joystick.5487/

It may well be that an old MS Sidewinder FFB joystick is a cheaper and more expedient option, but I would be most interested if you can find an effective DIY design.

    Hello and greetings from Poland!

My name is Adam and as probably everyone here I'm a huge fan of virtual racing. A few years ago I made a static rig, wich I use untill today. Unfortunately for my wallet and free time I stumbled across this site and decided to build something more advanced. Now I'm planning to check how the SimTools work, using a few servos connected to arduino. If I'm satisfied with the results I will try to build something bigger :) Right now I'm wondering whether I should build a 2dof or 3dof rig. Have you got any ideas? I'm not scared of welding or electronics and thus quite open for suggestions...
Also I'd like to point out that it was a great pleasure for me to read about the projects on this forum, I hope one of them can give me inspiration as I continue to look through them.

OK, time to make this official. I've been lurking here for quite some time, reading, collecting ideas, slowly letting the plans coalesce in the back of my head. Well, the time has finally come for action!

I'm a driving sim guy, primarily iRacing and a little bit of Dirt Rally. Spent the last couple years building and then tweaking a static sim. For me, (as I imagine it is for many here,) playing with the rig is every bit as enjoyable as the driving itself!

I'm think I'm leaning towards a shoulder mounted seat mover, but I kinda want to play with a D-Box style, 4-corners design, too. I figure I'll start small, though, and just add traction loss to my current 80/20 rig. It'll make a good platform for either future build, and maybe once I get a better handle on how all the pieces work together, it'll give me a better idea on which direction to go.

Thanks to everyone for the inspiration, and I look forward to picking your brains further!

    Hi all,

I just joined as I've been inspired by the new VR technology to build a motion simulator to use with it. I'm a former computer designer (Sun Microsystems SPARCstation 1 was my baby) but now I design & build race cars. You can check out my Formula 1000 racecar at LudemannEngineering. A Formula 1000 race car is astonishingly violent to drive, and after driving one I can't even imagine how fast a Formula 1 car must be. I used to think I knew what "fast" was until the first time I floored my F1000 car. Nothing I've ever driven even came close to preparing me, and I used to drive a heavily modified Porsche 930 and Formula Ford race cars. F1K cars corner at well over 2G's and brake at over 3G's. So I've got to get used to the speed and get more skillful to prepare for driving the real car. I'm thinking along the following lines:

    1. The goal is to totally fool my brain into thinking it's driving a real Formula 1000 race car. Everything else is secondary.
    2. VR only
    3. Huge swings: as close as possible to +/- 90 degrees in both roll & pitch
    4. Possibly also combined with a seat mover?
    5. Cost not so important; real tires are $1000 per set and only last a couple of hours
    6. Not for games. Extremely demanding is a plus; In my real car sometimes I could only do 6 laps before I couldn't hold my head up anymore. I expect to use it wearing a helmet, driving suit, everything. The real car takes ALL my strength to turn the wheel in a high-speed corner. The car appears to have no limits. Only the driver has limits.
    7. It would also be nice to be able to turn it down and give normal people a taste of what it's like to drive a real racecar. I'd also like to be able to use it to get the real feeling of driving legendary cars like the 917-30 or Moby Dick.

With all that in mind, I need some pointers as to what direction I should take. This site is huge and it's hard to figure out where to start. For instance, there's probably simulation software that everyone knows is the best. I understand Project Cars has a Formula 1000 car...

    Thanks
    -JJ

    Welcome @JJLudemann.

A few months planning is time well spent, and the community here can help you out as you formulate your ideas about what you want to build. While +/- 90 degrees in both roll & pitch may sound and look impressive, I would suggest that it is not realistic, particularly for VR, because of the likely latency involved. What would be more realistic is a rig that is violently fast, say around 600mm/s.
