So i finally created my own thread regarding what to build and what i want.
Ive been looking alot at Pit´s and Moxleys builds and they are AWESOME and is truly what im after.

Dave gave me some tips about electronics to drive it JRK, but im still not sure after looking at Pits build.
Seems damn smooth but as of what i have read u need to know some coding to get it to spin compared to the JRK. Im a computer techie and a mechanic so i will probably work it but still i want pros and cons before i buy the stuff needed.

The frame is in my head atm and will made of chromolly steel for rigidity and somewhat lighter weight, and as a 2 piece just as Moxelys. I was thinking of even making the whole top frame mooving but gave up that idea. So just a traction and chair moover.

So to the big issue, gear.
    1. Steeringwheel.
I have and dont laugh, been struggeling with a old grandturismo force wheel. Still working but accurate NO.
Realism, NO there to. So i am looking at 2 options Thrustmaster t500rs or Fanatec Clubsport!
Huge price difference and most will probably say Fanatec, but at the same time if i go for the 500 i have more bang for the buck to put into the rig. As im not a millionere but i still want the best value for the money i ask for the communitys advice regarding this.
Ps i might beg for the fanatec for my 50´s birthday but thats 2 years away :).

    2. Shifters and Handbrakes.
Seems like there is only the above to choose from here aswell. The Thrustmaser seems to be a good choise as you can easy convert it to seq if you want it, and the price also leans towards it...the only thing the irritates me that the lever is to darn long.
Handbrake i have no clue as there is many to choose from, mabey its a preference of my choise. Still dont want any crap that falls apart after 50 h gametime.

    3. Motors.
So i need 3 motors, as im about 100kgs (big boy) and the frame structure with all stuff mounted about 150kg i think. 200w 60:1 motor will be enough????

    4. JRK or Ardinuo.
Im leaning towards JRK.........but im still not sure. seems ardinuo have a little more tweaks to fine tune.

Thats so far what im wondering about. The rest of the things like sound computers i have covered.
Screens i can choose from 3 to my homecinema at 140 inch but then i probably will upset my wife and family for interfeering with their cinema waching :).

Cheers and im soooo looking forward to get this project on the road. And im amazed by the skill of this comunity, som many gifted home crafters combined to one force towards home racing!
    Keep it up
    Fredrik

We all have our own reasons and both would do for wheels, but I chose Clubsport.

You can buy or build shifters and hanbrakes, there is info in the FAQs for the latter. Again personal choice and that depends on what you are playing and how seriously. My old H shifter lives in the cupboard, the sequential tends to get used occasionally for drift, which is hardly ever. I mostly use the Clubsport paddles.

Your design will affect what motors/gearboxes you are likely to need. You can go 3600rpm/50:1 and less angle on the rods or more angle and less CTC on 25:1. Have a look at how design, motors, CTC and angles relate: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/calculating-basic-linear-speed-and-forces.89/

JRK and Arduino will likely both do OK, the JRK will likely be quicker to setup but more expensive, the Arduino is cheaper and more flexible if you are doing things as @Pit does, big winches, big PSUs. Again design and motor selection also influences what you may choose.

    Im looking at theese
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2013...proved-version-expert-version/1938783067.html
they look a little bit different compared to the ones Pit uses but i get they have been updated. Would they suite my needs?
    and theese

The JRKs are just to expensive 3 pieces costs like 240euros with heatsinks freight in all.
Thnx Noorbeast for your input...i want the flexibility so i think im goin for Arduino.
looks like you can slim the JRK install all a little more compared to the Ard, more cables boxes and stuff but thats no problem.
Hope i dont sound like a cheapskate hehe, price functionallity and realism is what im after:).

I bought the controlles and the hp 700ps on ebay today, also help fell out of the sky just by one phone call. A friend of mine since the gocart age whom i called regarding a racechair wanted to help.
Talk about luck, this guys been building Dragracing chassies both for himself and others in Sweden. And he has a mechanical firm who makes chassie mods to big trucks for 20 years so belive me i was stunned. Hes a technical genious!!!.
He suggested that the topframe should be made out of seemless hyrdraulic tubes in the same dimensions that they use in race cars he has done(38 or 45mm).
I was worried as weight would be a issue, but he assured me 2 man lifted the whole car cages he have built!!!! so i guess im ok :).
So the whole cage will be done in a racecar fashion with bent tubes and a x bar on each side. And powder coated as he could provide that aswell for a minimal cost of what i could normally pay.
If we find out a solution to gyro and get the upper tubeframe in a safe and good manner i am reconsidering it, need to check the forum a little more :).

As for the steering wheel it seems the thrustmaster t500rs is sold out everywhere, and if i would have checked Pits add i would have goten it "grrrr" asap!
I think it will suit my needs till i can muster the money for the fanatec setup so i will keep on looking. The demand seems huge on thoose wheels as we are getting restocked in sweden in "AUGUST"!!.

Well guys im of for celebrating my birthday!!
    Cheers and happy racing.

The controllers and psu´s are on the way. And i got hold of a TMaster 500rs set wich is in the 2 week range for delivery!!!!
The one thing i am wondering about is the motors, i have found the same motors as pit have to a reasonable cost.
But at the same time im just wondering about the wormgear motors as they are a little more quiet.
I also guess Winches will hold up due to stress and wear as they are more heavy duty, but im not sure of that as ive no real life experiense of them.
The worms seems to have more or less industrial standards to get up to NM and specs. As so goes the price up.

Unfortunately they are too slow for motion simulation, it would need to be at least three to seven times its top rated speed of 4~100mm/s

Well i finally might have goten a hold of some motors. After a lot of looking up on internet where to get the Wormgear 60:1 300w ish that Motion Control Products in England sell. Seems nobody else sells them, so i mailed them..........Took a while for them to respond but no price tag yet :(.
Went to my friend today to speak about the frame.....he has some wild suggestions hehe. He suggested we do the build as 2 platforms with a lazy susan ring.
As its going to be compact all motors and electronics will be behind the seat and inside the top frame. When ive goten the drawings from him ill show you what we mean, still on paper drawings still so we can se what goes where.
And it looks like i have to build 2 of theese :).

A almost new looking sparco evo 3 seat(really wanted a circuit plus seat) that i have found will most likely be in the rig. Just waiting on my darn payday :), so i hope he havent sold it.
The rest is on its way in mail so when it comes ill do some electronics and thesting the wheel wich arrives in a week or so......they are restocked in august so i was lucky to find a swedish supplier who could get me one before that.

    Cheers guys
    Fredrik

Got the Arduinos yesterday and hooked them up and programmed them according to the excellent tutorial found on the forum. I just hope the MM is coming this week. And oreder the chipset coolers that Pit uses also.
The motors are ordered 68£ plus vat and shipping!!!
Need to get some breadboards and wires asap lol.
And i was in time to cancel my order on the PSU as a computer tech friend of mine had 3 laying collecting dust :) so i got 3 HP 800w´s for free!!!

So im getting closer and closer :).
Pics will be posted as soon as i get how to do it hehe.

Ive ordered the Motors from Motion control products in the UK. They are not the fastest people to respond on mails though.
Theese are the ones ive ordered 3 of, with bronze gears inside the gearbox. $_507.JPG
