Feeling pretty exited. After a lot of trial and error, and waiting on the correct 8020 because the vendor shipped the wrong size, here we are with an update. 8020 frame (mostly complete.) the wheel mount needs to have a small angle tweak, and needs to be cut down about 1-1/2". Also need to have the balance shifted rearward. Hopefully the way I designed the 8020 this wont be a problem, just loosen some screws and slide the 2 main cross supports forward. Actuator rods are complete and welded, I will mount those today when i get home. So this weekend will be transferring all of the software (Simtools, SMC, Arduino, etc) to the gaming computer for testing and tuning. Then cleanup the electrical, add an emergency stop, mount the gearshift and button boxes, and maybe build a monitor stand. I have not decided to make the computer a desktop rig at this point or to mount it to the side of the base somewhere. If i did it again i would shrink and lighten up the base, as it is probably 60 lbs, the seat frame is nice and light, the main weight is in the pedals, ans wheel. Please excuse the mess, I always seem to take pictures before I clean up, or mid process. Anyone have any good ideas for a butt kicker mount on 8020 framing? It doesn't want to fit properly. 20190417_102950.jpg 20190417_102955.jpg 20190418_175818.jpg 20190418_175822.jpg 20190418_175829.jpg

We are up and running. I little frustrated last night. I downloaded Live for Speed, followed the instructions for tuning. The first time the data was in the tuning center, but i deleted it to get better data and now I can get no input from the game despite it saying it is connected and running. The rig moves in the motion testing phase of simtools and works great in the SMC3 program, but sadly I get nothing when running Live for Speed. I really just think I'll buy the download package (not enough coins yet, i built too fast i guess) and give it a rip with i racing as that is my main sim. Here's a short video of the action, hopefully i can get it fully functional as i just sold my old non motion rig frame.

Live for speed needs to be run for a race in first person mode before patching, as that generates some required files.

If you did not do that then un-patch LFS, run race with it then re-patch.

I'll try that and post back. I was getting to anxious and trying to mess with everything to get it working, I'm sure I probably messed something up in the process. Tonight I'll slow it down and do it step by step. I'm sure if your suggestion doesn't fix it, it will be something else minor. Thanks.

IT works! So awesome. Thank Noorbeast for all of your help and advice in this thread. Any advice on how to start tuning the setup? Its a little funky here and there, and I'd like to get more throw out of my actuators........right now they seem to only use about 30 degrees of upward travel from center, and 60 to 70 downward.

Havent posted in a while. Its all up and running, now to just tidy up the wiring. A couple notes for anyone following this: I had to reinforce the arms that attach the actuator rods as I was getting too much flex. I also will be adding reinforcement to the 8020 frame as it creaks a bit under motion. Other than that everything is working great, it almost it too powerful, i have had to dial the settings in the SMC3 back to 215 pwmax, and lower my percentages in simtools to tone it down a bit. Here are current photos.
