    Hi all, i'm italian so sorry for my english.

    I'm finally going to build my motion simulator and i've to make a list of all components, in order to achieve what i expect from it:

    1) big movements: i've seen a lot of simulator here that don't move very much. I think it depends on the motor's power, that sometimes doesn't allow to use a long lever mounted on the motor shaft

    For example in this project https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/from-atoz-2dof-arduino-wiper-playseat.4616/ , RacingMat use a lever (connecting rod) with a distance of 65 mm from the motor shaft. This should result in a forward/backward movement of only 65mm, right? Is it possible to mount a pulley to increase the torque and get a longer lever (more movement) or the speed will be too low with 12V wiper motors?

    2) No latency between game and reality movements (it depends on the motors and how much power i give to them, right?);

    Now, i haven't a very big budget and i think to take this road:

    1) TWO wiper motors

    - can i go to junkyard and simply take two of them from any car or there are some kind of models/mechanism inside i have to avoid?

    2) TWO 10k potentiometer, one for each motor;

    3) TWO pololu jrk 12v12;

    4) DPS-600pb server power supply (it can deliver 12V and 47Amp.... it isn't too much for pololu boards? There are other options for the power supply?

    Thank's a lot,

    regards

    Andrea.

    Hi, thank's for reply!

    How can i know/estimate the speed and torque of a wiper motor bought at junkyard?

    Speed you can count rotation by time to give you the rpm, likely around 50rpm.

    Torque is a bit of a guess unless you know what the wiper motor came out of, but likely something around 6-10nm.

    Are wiper motors too bad in order to play with them or they are axeptable? I've seen many project that use them and in the videos they don't seems so slow and powerless. I've just bought two of them + a moto monster shield for arduino and don't know if i've wasted my money :/ Help

    Wiper motors are a cheap entry option, but they are not particularly powerful so need plenty of design leverage and a well balanced rig.

    Most wiper motors also need some additional work, like ground isolation: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/wiper-motor-mandatory-ground-isolation.25/

    You also need to check cheap clone MMs, as they are known to often be faulty: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/reputable-monster-moto-suppliers-testing-before-use.158/

    Yeah, ground isolation was in the list of the things to do :)

    I've bought an original version of MMs, i think. It should be branded "Sparkfun".

    I was thinking to buy better motors (maybe from "Motion Dynamics") but it seems very difficult to find them in stock, now.

    Can this motor works with arduino+MMs? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brushed-D...033864?hash=item59019b2408:g:DMkAAOSwTO9aBcRF

    1500RPM at 12V.. aren't too much?

    What about to use 2 wiper motors on each axys?

    In the MPN there is what looks like the ratio of the gearbox - 25:1. I think some people use those here but they might not be torquey enough for a full frame. Probably great for a seat mover.

    In the description there is written: Part No: ZYT90-155-24 300RPM MCP4; 25:1 or 50:1 Gearbox. I think that the ratio of gearbox can be chosen by contacting the seller. Is 50:1 anough for both joyrider (full frame) and seat version?

    i think a 50:1 gearbox should give you enough torque - how many watts is the motor ?
