    Hey community,

I am interested in your thoughts regarding a full motion rig and a rig where only the seat moves. I've seen both so far and I have a hard time deciding which I should go for.

The full motion makes more sense when it comes to flight sims (at least in my opinion), the seat only when you're a racer, although this a two-sided thing again:

When i'm driving a car, the force of the driving itself is applied to my body on the seat (steering wheel and pedals remain steady), but when I hit a bump on the road, the whole car shakes...

Looking forward to hear what you have to say :)

I don't know that there is or ever will be a consensus, as it depends a lot on the individual.

Many hard core sim racers tend to favor the seat shaker design, where only the seat moves, and counter intuitively it actually generates some additional motion cues at the wrists and ankles. Many commercial rigs follow that path.

Others favor a full frame, particularly for flight sims, but some racers also prefer them.

Both designs work well and in the end it is a bit of personal preference to which you prefer.

Either way traction loss is often considered as furthering immersion for both designs. After implementing heave I would have to say that it also brings a whole new dimension to how you experience the sim.

A seat mover with Dbox for suspension and GS4 seat for Gforces would be the ultimate rig.

    welcome

i would say start with the seat mover and build from that as you can learn more as you go on, and you might get a feel what you need?
you can still have a full frame mover later if you start that way with a seat mover and just move the actuators n lock the seat to move the frame that way your learning as you go then.
its all about feel and tbh i have not been in the motion scene very long and i have to say when you get ya head down and drive you become very immersed and actually feel like your in a race car.
if you can get the seat right via the least movement of your arms and leg joints it will help but tbh it does not affect me, if you go full frame you can lose alot of forces and i always feel its boring compared to the seat mover.
no doubt i will progress to heave then traction loss rather than full frame for me.

Imo both Frex's and CXC's explanation's should be included in the FAQ.
