    Hello everyone!

    I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jhonathan (JohnCor), I'm starting my DIY thread today. I have read a lot about your recommendations on how to build the sim. I used to race Honda challenge here in California, but I haven't race for two years so here I am wanting to experiment with this :)
    please excuse my English as I was born in South America and i'm still working on my English....

    I have seen how helpful you guys are, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

    This is what I have so far. I don't know how to weld, so I kept this metal pallet from one of the instruments I installed at work :grin

    I'm using this part as my support point.... it came out of an ATV front shaft, It moves very easily.

    Also I already ordered the GEAR MOTOR 12 VOLT, 150/160 rpm 25:1 ratio from PGSAW from Canada, they should be here in abut 10 to 15 working days.

    In the future I would like to add traction loss but for right now. I would like to focus on learning as much as I can with the 2DOF system.

    Any suggestions on cheap Motor drivers, PSU, etc... For my seat mover will be appreciated.

    I forgot to mention that I will adjust the wheel and pedals in the future once the seat is settup with the motors.

    Hello everyone! I have been spending some time reading the forums, and I have also followed @noorbeast recommendations about the Saberthooth as a Motor driver option, so I moved ahead and I ordered a saberthooth 2x32 which is on its way. :)

    So far I have order:

    -Two Motors 12v 25:1 from PGsaw which its gonna take some time o arrive but are on it's way
    -One Saberthooth 2x32
    -I have a few Arduino Unos around

    I would like to know your recommendations about this PSU: DPS-600PB B which supplies 575W. What do you think about one of these in combination with one Saberthooth to drive 2 motors?

    I was reading here that I can use one PSU for both motors:

    Server PSUs can be a bit sensitive about spikes, but they are cheap. A LED strip PSU is less sensitive and still reasonably priced.

    Yes Hall sensors are a good choice, they have good resolution, long life and won't break if over rotated.

    Hello @noorbeast! thank you for your recommendations. its been a while and I finally received all the parts that I needed to start my project.
    I read a lot and I followed your recommendations, and I went ahead and ordered the hall sensors, the LED strip PSU, the saberthooth 2x32. I already had an sparkfun arduino uno, I ordered some rods and rod ends, "L" brackets, etc (pictures below)

    I also got the Motors from PGsaw, 25:1, 12v, 180 watts, 30-40N.M, and I did a quick setup of things just to have an idea, here are some pictures. I still have to figure out the angles.

    I 3D printed the connection that goes from the 1/2"-13 motor rod to the hall sensor pot, got the file from one of the threads thanks to @Squonk

    I would like to start buying the electrical stuff, what would you recommend on wire size, I was gonna buy zip wire 10AWG, but the guy at my local electronic store told me that I need bigger wire to support the amps, but the motor only draws 15 amps if I'm correct, and the Saberthooth handles 32amps.

    I started reading about it and some guys are using batteries, relays, fuses, etc....

    Do I need any of that on my little 2DOF or that's more for guys that are using 2x60's with bigger motors? I'm planing on using one PSU 12v/50A/600watts for both motors, with one saberthooth 2x32 also for both motors, do I need any of that stuff??

    Very cool! You're actually the first one to use them, as I haven't gotten around to changing the bolts on my rig. Let me know if you have any trouble with them.

    @Squonk Thank you for your message. No issues the only thing I noticed is, there is a little gap between top and bottom wen you put them together... But not an issue, I bet zip ties and theadlocker will keep them together.

    Hmm. Do you mean there's a gap between the halves? I don't have that with mine. I wonder if its due to slight differences in e-steps between your machine and mine. If you find they don't hold up, let me know and I'll modify the .stl a bit.

    Yes there is a gap between the halves. It could be because of the differences in our 3D printers. But hey.... I'm happy to use them since you provided the solution to my problem lol

    Congratulations JohnCor! It is a great project! I have not started the construction of my first 2dof yet. I already bought some components, 2 PGsaw motors, sabertooth 2x32 and a PSU of 50A.

    Surely take some ideas from your frame. I wonder if my PGsaw engines (50: 1, 180W) will be adequate. I know that you have used engines with a 25: 1 ratio.

    Do you think they will work properly?

    Hello Guys,

    I know it has been a while since I stop here, work and family is always a priority :).
    Here is a little info about my build.
    I was able to finally finish my project a few months ago. I went from a 2DOF to a 3DOF with traction loss.

    I really like my Simulator and I'm enjoying it every time I have a chance to get on it.

    I bought a 3D printer at the end of the build to be able to print an F1 wheel, wheel release hardware, pot holders, paddle shifters etc

    I just want to thank you all, I red a lot on the forums to be able to get it done, specially the fox that share the 3D printing files also @noorbeast, and really every person here, this is a great community!

    I will post a video in a near future.
