Yaw effect?

    Hi guys,
    I was wondering if it could be possible to make my whole rig turning?
    Also, I read about a solution with power slip ring (as did Force Dynamics), but could we find one affordable?

    Hi noorbeast and thanks for your answer, now I remember having seen this RacingCube project last year; but with this solution the cable remain a problem...
    Regarding applicability, for what I have tried, it felt to me much more interesting than trying to emulate the G's, and as stated by Force Dynamics:"when you're driving a car that's sliding all over, it's the rotation that tells you when things have gone wrong".
    I was more thinking of using something like a carousel with a small slip ring (like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180-AMPS-A-...-24V-48V-WIND-TURBINE-GENERATOR-/200661012580) to get rid of the cable(s).

    Are you designing a rig around a particular slip ring or the other way around? :confused: In any case, since we have no idea what other parts you are planning to use its impossible to give any advise worth giving. o_O

    But if you have a double turn (left or right) or a "long slide", it's dead, while with a Yaw solution, the oversteering (traction loss) can be applied all along by just accelerating the turning/cornering effect.
    More, with this kind of effect/rig, you should also be able to feel the understeering, as in this case it could turn slower than the angle given by the wheel, so for me it could be a double win design...

    Hi BlazinH and sorry for the inaccuracy
    It's "the other way around", I would like to put my wooden rig on a tray and make this tray turning; faster for oversteering and slower for understeering.
    I saw there are two kinds of slip ring, one with an engine (like Force Dynamics) that should be expensive, and the other one (like the one I posted) which basically only prevent the cable to twist.

    Yaw is more when a car spins, it rotates around its center. Traction loss is not dead, it is far more natural regarding a normal effect when a car loses traction and slides.

    But what you build is totally up to yourself.

    If everything including the computer, power supplies, and all motors are going to be on the tray moving too then a 3 circuit slip ring would suffice if it can handle the necessary current to run everything. If you plan on offloading some things from the tray though then you will need a slip ring with more circuits. Slip rings can cost as little as $5 dollars and from there can run into hundreds of dollars.

    "Yaw is more when a car spins, it rotates around its center..." yes an no, when you spin with a real car, it's because the gravity center is thrown too far on the rear; I don't know if your ever experienced this kind of rig, but it's not what you actually feel... look at the Force dynamics videos, to me it look like it is spot on and the only 1:1 axe
    So maybe, we could imagine a design with a gravity center even a bit more on the back end?

    I have no preconceived ideas, I would just like to find a good solution for a project that I would have had like to start for a long time.
    At first, I thought that as it only handles one engine it would have been "easier" to build, but as always, when you start the "engineering" process, you face the problems...
    If I ever achived this project, it's evolution would be to add four D-Box actuators or like (or 4 engines), just to simulate the dampers, do you know how much current that could finally required if I go for the all-inclusive solution, as I would not want to be limited for those future developpements?
    And if I can do it with the slip ring(s), what engine could I run to make the whole rig turning, as we'll talk about 120/130 kilos that need to turn at 20rpm (again like Force Dynamics)?
