My frame is completed; I just need to build a controller now. I really want to put together a small CNC machine to cut out all these PCB boards. It would really make it allot easier for me, if not all of us.

I’m thinking of getting a harbor freight micro mill – $319 USD
    http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=47158

    And a hobby CNC power supply/stepper kit – 3 Axis Package (305oz-in) - $280 USD
    http://www.hobbycnc.com/hcncpropkg.php

    and a CNCfusion conversion kit - Micro-Mill CNC kit #1 - $269
    http://www.cncfusion.com/micromill1.html

I believe it would have about .005” inch accuracy and at under $900 USD it would be a good deal.
Anyway, that is another project, and if I build it, I would still need to learn how to use it. :D

    Hello everyone,
I have managed to get my chair together and working. :yippiee:

I want to give a special thanks to both sirnoname and tronicgr, without their contributions I simply would not have a motion chair to play with. I also want to give a special thanks to egoexpress for answering all my endless questions.

I hope to get some videos posted soon showing the chair in action. I’m currently working on profiles and busy learning the x-sim software now that I finally have something to connect the software to. The windshield wiper motors seem to provide excellent force to my SimforceGT setup.

One thing I am trying to find the answer too is the motors do not seem to respond to very small movements, although the AMC seems to be trying to move them. I’m wondering if it is because I am currently running 10k pot’s for position feedback?

Next, I want to try 50k or 100k pot’s for feedback and see if it helps to get the small movements I think I am missing.

Anyway, please bear with me as I run more tests and continue learning the x-sim software. With any luck, I’ll have videos up by the beginning of next week.

At first congratulation to yobuddy! And wait to see your videos  .
I'm a chinese student and now study in Uni. Stuttgart Germany. I have paid so much attentions to this forum and these simulatorprojects for a long time. Now I have seen some results, these are very exciting. At present I'm already start my thesis, and then I wanne also start my simulatorproject, I hope I can get some supports from you and all experts here, I'd appreciate it. Sorry for my poor English!

    Kind regards

    Hi Yobuddy,

Its wonderful that you got it done so soon! Can't wait to see some photos and video of your work! I'm interested to see how you connected the motors with the seat!

The reason that your motors don't react to small motion movements could be the lower KP setting (proportional acceleration) I used in beta firmwares. I have ready new firmware (the official v1 release for the AMC1.5) that the user can simply turn on a DIP switch and enter into terminal mode that allows entering of custom KP values for each motor. These new settings can be saved into the internal memory and be used each time you power on the AMC!! I'm making the documentation for it right now, and it will be available to all in the next days.

Regarding the Pots, its better to use 100K pots to have the best resolution!

    Regards, Thanos

Windows movie maker will not process my movie :thbd:
It just crashes when I try to publish it.

So I made a simple one for now until I get more time to figure out why it will not publish it.

    Amazing!

Those wipers are much faster than my firgelliautos.
Imho you could reduce the z-axis a little for the next vid, to be able to rate the movements better.
I wonder if Thanos pid algorithm is able to keep the motors a bit cooler than El.Jacks direct controller.

    Super! very nicely done!!

actually it was your vid posted on another site that made me come and look to x-sim.

Me too, i would like to build a motion sim like yours. you wouldn't have any drawings of the chassis? (with measurements?)
The thing that I cannot figure out, is the pivot point... how is it made? just a rubber or is something inside? :?

    Hello everyone :hi:

Unfortunately, life has gotten busy again and I won’t have time to finish my simulator for a couple of more weeks. (I still need a 12v battery and 100k pot’s)

I will try to take pictures of the pivot point and post measurements for the frame in the coming week.
I used a rubber transmission mount for the pivot point. It is about a 4” disk, 1” thick, with a bolt end sticking out both sides.

yobuddy: Where did you get your wiper motors? did they cost much?
Hope my seat will be as cool as yours!!

I would try to buy the Nissan ones that tronicgr has on his simulator, or just try to get permanent magnet ones (ones that will not turn when no power is applied).

Also – I made 2” arms on my wiper motors; if I had to do it over I would make them 1” as the chair moves way more that is actually needed. 1” arms will also help with any play that may be in the wiper motor too.

    Hope that helps
