    Hello XSim Community,

I am looking into running X-Plane 11 with an HTC Vive. I have found the software FlyInside that enables this. Does anyone have experience with this software? Is it worth the purchase, or are there better software available?

Thank you for any help that can be provided.

    -Nate

X-Plane 11 native VR is under development but until that is released Flyinside is the best option.

Flyinside also has a demo download, so you can try before you buy it and make up your own mind.

I just recently tried X-11 and FlyInside (Three weeks ago)
While the game itself is great, and Flyinside is great, but combined not so great IMO. I was using the Rift and the frame rate (or appears to be) was really low and choppy.
I got a refund on the game until it has native VR support

I presume you've tried Aerofly FS2 - nothing better for some fun VR flying. It will though take some time to catch up in terms of scenery, aircraft range, weather etc.

I’ve got XPlane 11 and FlyInside and love it. As Brett notes, frame rates do suffer a bit though but you can also manage some of that through graphics settings. It’s still hard to even hold 45 FPS depending on what you like to see. FlyInside does try to compensate with its own reprojection though. If you have a beefy system, I still recommend it.

As Noorbeast noted, Laminar has announced native VR support but we don’t know when or how good. I don’t know the current state of P3D, but for some time after it had native VR support, FlyInside still kicked its butt. It may still but I don’t know. Haven’t tried the latest major release.

Spit40 is right on with Aerofly. It’s beautiful in VR with native support, smooth as all hell, and the system requirements are lower it seems than FSX or P3D. It doesn’t fully model all the systems, but the flying is wonderful. My go-to for demos but no wind yet in the plugin.

I used to fly FSX almost exclusively but now lean to Aerofly and XPlane. I plan to get back on the P3D bandwagon since I can use a lot of my scenery with that and not lose the investment. FSX has been a dead end for a while but thankfully the other sims just keep improving.

Thank you all for these responses. It is highly appreciated. I will look into the demo of FlyInside to determine whether it is what I desire.

I have not tried FlyInside but while you demo it, you might want to try trinus vr, which unlike flyinside doesn't make the price evident from their page (YUCK!) Guessing flyinside since tailored word be best, but just throwing out another "play in vr" product
