Since I've just recently got into VR I was still using Win7. Got to say it really sucks how Microsoft now forces windows updates on you. You can delay them but inevitably if you don't install it soon enough and leave your computer on you will go back and find your apps closed and likely some information lost if you hadn't saved everything.

Furthermore my Win10 settings got reset and I found that all of Microsofts spyware was turned on again. I swear is there anybody out there these days that you can trust aren't spying on you and collecting your information? The Win10 license even makes you agree to "basic" spying. Bastards!

It now makes perfect sense though why Microsoft pushed free updates to Win10 so hard and I've read some even got it on their computers without authorization.

The Intel Management Engine is another pest.
It always runs as long as the motherboard is receiving power. It even runs when the computer is turned off.

And nobody except some at Intel and NSA know, what exactly it does…

Great that looks even worse ! Don't even need an OS installed. So the answer to if you can trust anyone these days not to spy and take your information the answer is not only no but hell no :(.

Indeed it’s a true scandal. I was so happy with 8.1 and its functionality. After changing to the new intel processor I discovered that the chipset driver was written for win 10 only. I followed many tutorials to desactvate the forced updates but none of them has worked. I hope the solution above is a good alternative.
    Thanks
