Most things eventually break down and need repaired . if a sim can go a year or two with regular use with no problems, i think you could still call it dependable

Does come down to how hard you or the user runs a profile or motors settings, I run mine flat out, producing a recorded 500-600mm/s , Hall effect I can kill in a couple of months (going back to quality wire wounds which I have previously had 4 years running from). Motors seem to be hanging in there and controllers have never missed a beat. I personally couldn't use a sim that travels much slower, I would be expecting the bump and then feeling it later, would totally stuff my racing and timings up.

But that is my personal preference. After years of building, helping and racing.

With my hire sims, I run motion at about 40% less than what I do normally
    Reasons.
    1) 99% of people whom play are not sim drivers, so too harsh a motion can make it to hard to play. Granted its a wild ride, but after 2 years, I know about how much motion is good.
    2) Saves equipment.
You might think the motion is soft, but a non sim driver thinks its wild. You have to consider what the next person is going to do.
