vertical lift by Winch

    Hello, I hope this is the correct forum section.

    I am near to modify my winch gear for obtain the vertical lift.
    I was looking for a few days this image posted by eaorobbie:

    I don't understand fully the operation of this, precisely I don't understand how the brackets can do the opening movement when the gear is turning. Would be perfect to see an animation about to understand well.

    This image is nearest of what I was thinking about a vertical lift using winch motors. But in this image too I don't understand the part that I highlighted (Perhaps these additional brackets are used to rotate the pot without using the RC hely gear?)

    Ok, this is what I was thinking for the vertical lift:

    Simply that. Is enough?
    I think that more the bracket length is, more height I can obtain for my platform but my motor must to give more power too.
    What do you think about?
    What is the better solution for obtain a good mix between ease of construction and lift performance?
