Plus if your computer can push 4x 4K screens at 120 fps, it'd probably need it's own temperature controlled room! Do you think twice 4k will give you enough resolution? When you focus on some distant object you need several hundred pixels per degree of view. Fortunately(!) my eyesight is deteriorating so I can make do with DK2 for now! I think on games like project Cars, where they have adopted the "direct to rift" mode, it's really rather good now even with the resolution of the DK2.

Too bad, they haven't gone "Direct to rift" on Elite:Dangerous yet... I'm stuck using runtime 0.6.1. Which is fine (and a requirement) for PCARS, but slightly dodgy for Elite.

By the way, I'm always a bit freaked, when I see a new post in here! I always think the pre-order for the CV1 has gone live, and I'm already 24 hours late! And every 24 hours equates to an additional month of wait! Lol!

The technology for consumer grade 120+ fps 4K VR is still a fair way off, perhaps gen 3 of consumer VR.

The Carmack talk he did recently he stated 8K is the ideal for VR but that is ways out. @noorbeast you're right, 4K at 120fps is definitely gen 3+, at least a couple years out.

It's not a question of screen technology but when PC technology catches up to be able to render at those high resolutions at 90 fps.

Agree, but the aim will be more like 120 fps.

    Here is the google translation.

Really interesting news coming to us from Korea. It turns out that Samsung is preparing a new screen designed for smartphones and there would be nothing surprising if not for the fact that it is characterized by a gigantic resolution.

Today, many people are adequate Full HD screens, though more often you can meet with smartphones qHD screens. Even though they nohow have, however, to what we learn now, namely to start work on screen with a resolution, attention, 11K.

More specifically mean it is х 11 264 6 336 pixels, most likely at 5.7 inches, which should translate into 2250 ppi.And although at the moment there appeared a higher dose information, and so it is difficult to indicate in which order is created such a screen. However, it seems that the only reasonable purpose, may be virtual reality goggles.

The new solution will be ready for mass production in 2019 years. The prototype will be shown but perhaps earlier - on the occasion of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang [9 - 25 February 2018 years - ed. red]. Perhaps because of this investment will be the South Korean government, which has promised a grant of 26.5 million dollars.
