    Hello,

I’d like to build a racing simulator for my son on a low budget. The DIY tutorials I find online usually show 2–6 DoF systems that need to be structurally very strong and require quite a bit of power. So I was wondering whether it might be simpler to make a suspended lounge chair move instead. Since the anchor point is close to the driver’s head, it should help reduce motion sickness and improve immersion, right?

So my question is: has anyone ever tried using a suspended chair as a motion base for sim racing? I haven’t been able to find any tutorial about this.

A suspended rig is possible, and there are some member's rigs as examples: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/6-dof-on-a-shoe-string.13649/

That said, I personally do not think a suspended lounge chair type design is simpler, and the plethora of alternate designs, I would suggest, bear that out.

Doing some in depth research before diving in is time well spent.
