Sound 5.1 ot 7.1 ???

    Hi, I have installed a 5.1 sourround sistem, but I want to know if a 7.1 is really a difference from 5.1
    I know is similar except fot side speakers... what do you think? Can I change it? or live my old 5.1

    I know it's an old thread, but it's still unanswered;)


    So, why do you want to upgrade? For the sake of upgrading? Imo 5.1 is enough for racing/flight sims. 7.1 won’t add that much immersion. Even with a 11.2 system you won’t get that much more out of a racing/flight sim.


    If you have too much money there are better ways to spend it: e.g. sound transducer.

    I upgraded from 5.1 to 7.1 but to be honest it did not add to the immersion. Certainly sounds good, but I cannot say that it sounds better. But then; I am not an audiophile and in simulators I am not sure audio cueing is that nuanced. Important yes.
