Question some confusion about YAW and EXTRA1 (Traction loss) settings?

    We have some confusion about YAW and EXTRA1 (Traction loss) settings. We are developing a 4DOF simulator, as shown in the below picture.

    The 3 and 4 axis will support Yaw motion. I want also traction loss, should YAW and EXtra1 be selected at the same time in axis assignment?
    Guys, anyone can give some suggestions?

    Yaw and traction loss differ with respect to the rotation point, yaw is the center point, traction loss relates to a pivot point near your feet.

    You say your rig is 4DOF, your rig obviously has roll, pitch and heave axis, what is the fourth DOF and what point does it rotate about?

    What you have provided in terms of design seems more akin to traction loss, pivot near the feet, than yaw, central pivot point, is that correct?

    @noorbeast, yes, you are right. So is it possible to set both yaw and traction loss in axis assignments? I don't know if simtool supports both motions or can I only choose one to set?

    Both can be set, but depending on design it may well be that one axis is privileged over the other.

    @noorbeast , what do you mean for "one axis is privileged over the other"? Here is my axis assignments for yaw and traction loss:

    I use axis3 and axis4 for both yaw and traction loss at the same time, but it seems feel like no traction loss, and sometimes the yaw bounces back weirdly. Is anything problem for axis setting? @yobuddy

    What I mean is that the design of a rig can privilege either yaw or traction loss as an axis, depending on where the dominant axis rotation point is, either in the center of the rig or near your feet.

    Basically, you will want to use traction loss with the build.
    Both of them will pretty much do the same thing for the rig, but traction loss will work a lot better.

    Thanks for your explanation, @noorbeast , @yobuddy , Obviously, my rig is designed to have traction loss prior to YAW, so set EXTRA1 in the axis assignment would be better. Will do some tests first and feedback later.
