    Excellent advice.
I've been reading a lot here lately, as I'm just beginning to build my 2dof seat mover, an under-the-seat mover similar in concept to yours actually.

One thing I haven't come across yet is whether SimTools is sensitive to to USB 3.0 ports, such as a multitude of racing/flight peripherals are which like to use USB 2.0 instead.
Or would that be more up to the motor controller? (JRK's in my case)

I've taken a good look at the DofReality motion hardware, and it looks like they are using the same PGsaw motors (25:1, or perhaps 50:1 for this M2 model for un-powered stability) and Arduino/MonsterMoto setup on the electronics end(cost savings?).

The real problem with USB 3 ports is poor implementation of the Standards, which is also why the Rift often has issues with some USB ports, particularly those on-board.

USB 2 is more stable and SimTools USB bandwidth needs are not high, so I would suggest using those USB 2 ports if possible.

Just as important is to ensure good cable management and shielding, so use quality USB cables and ferrite shields: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_... shield&_sacat=&_sadis=&_sop=12&_udhi=&_udlo=

Thank you for the clarification, and for moving this into a new topic.

I had only mentioned it in the DofReality thread because it was the first time I had come across anyone mentioning possible USB 3.0 vs USB 2.0 issues when using SimTools.

The more I read on these forums, the more in awe I am at how helpful most folks are, very refreshing these days.
My only regret is being a long time lurker and not joining sooner.
Thanks to my recent poor experience with a commercial motion platform, I'm here, all ears, and after my build hopefully I can be on the helping end someday as well.
