The last few days simtools has become unstable

I have been using simtools with RF2

At random I can hear a windows sound alert and the motion stops working.

When you look at the processes the game manager and game engine are active

When you close rf2 the game engine dissapears

Restart simtools and the motion comes back

    Any suggestions ?

    Check the interface cables.
Sounds like an interface is dropping out.
    Take care!

Yes it sounds like a usb decice has dropped out

My main sim uses 3 boards running smc3

When i checked the com ports they are all there.

Reopening simtools and everything is ok again

I have stopped simtools opening when windows does to give everything time to tie its laces - lets see if anything changes

Even a micro disconnect can mess with SimTools.

You can map what USB devices are mapped to which controllers, as it is easy to overload a USB controller, see the FAQs here: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/usb-disconnects.396/

Ferrite magnet clips on cords can help minimise interference, which can be an alternate possibility.

    Some good information there

Whats interesting is the sim has been good as gold for a long time, this is a new problem

The only change I can think is an update to RF2 and also windows

I will start with ferrite chokes and after that a pci usb card

    Thanks for the help :)

May be worth trying to plug stuff into usb 2.0 ports (if available) and see if you get the same result.

I think my usb ports are 2.0

I have added chokes on both ends of the 3x usb cables - so far all good ❤️
