You can zip existing settings to save them: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...thout-loosing-your-profiles-and-settings.160/

But new profiles will need to be created for 2.0.

I'm guessing the catch for the demo version of 2.0 is that it will only allow LFS, correct?

Correct, the demo version of 2.0 will only allow LFS.

I know it is a pain but have you tried starting from scratch?

    1. Make sure SimTools is not running.

    2. Uninstall SimTools, accepting remove all files.

    3. To be sure go to C:\Users\YOU_USER_NAME\AppData\Local and delete any SimTools folders, if they exist and 2.0 had been installed then they would be called SimTools and the second folder would be SimTools_License.

    4. Go to C:\Program Files (x86) and check if there is a folder called SimTools, if there is delete it.

    5. Reboot.

    6. Download and install the latest .NET: https://www.microsoft.com/net/download

    7. Reinstall SimTools 2.0 (perhaps even consider downloading it again to be sure it is not corrupted in any way).

    8. Run SimTools Registration as a normal user from the menu.

    9. Advise if it worked or is still crashing.

Alright, I uninstalled 2.0, removed the extra files from Appdata (there was no folder called Simtools_License), ran the .NET repair tool (windows won't just let you reinstall .NET for some godforsaken reason) Rebooted, reinstalled 2.0, still no dice :/

Just to be sure, I'm supposed to be running the simtools_registration.exe file straight from the installation folder, correct?

I'll try wiping the .NET installation manually from my registry tomorrow, it's possible that the repair tool doesn't work.

I think you need to uninstall and do a clean install of .NET to be certain.

Just run 'SimTools Registration' from inside the SimTools folder found in your Windows start menu, as a normal user, not admin.

Alright, so you guys are right, it's definitely a .NET error:

    .netCrash.PNG

The thing is, it's still happening after uninstalling and reinstalling the framework. I know win10 treats .NET differently than win7, but I have a feeling my installation is seriously borked. I'll try and see how to fix this. If any of this jumps out to you guys as something obvious any help is always appreciate.

edit: One another note, why are the child objects/methods on the last line of the .NET dump backwards?

Yes the folders are hidden by default.

Yes you will need to redo your motion profiles for SimTools 2.0.

    Working now! :)

The cleanup tool didn't work unfortunately. I downloaded the latest windows build from microsoft and updated win10 with it, everything seems to be all good now :)

I guess something happened along the way that messed up my .NET beyond repair somehow
