    Hello egoexpress!

I will check the matrix setup, but not before I get back from christmas holiday. Right now we are driving around in our car with a laptop in my mothers neighbourhood scanning for wireless networks and found one. Just to check mail and such.

My valve is still broken. I will open it up and see if it is a broken connection in the coil.

But for now Happy christmas! :xmas:

It seemes correct according to what I think your thinking! :D I assume that your notations is based on the simulator movement, not Profiler notation. That is a little confusing. I am not sure how to put in your values in the profilers matrix setup.

I think we should rename the cylinders to x and y to be more consistent with the profiler (eg x-y target values). Not to confuse the left cylinder with left movement of the sim which needs movement on both left and right cylinder. Puhhh.... :? Easy to get confused. I use notation like x-cylinder extend fast or y-cylinder retract slow. And in the matrix setup one has to convert the left/righ tabs to x-cylinder extend retract. And up/down tabs to y-cylinder extend/retract. X-cylinder is my left cylinder seen from simulator rear.

As long as profiler SW uses x/y some places and left/right some other places it is doomed to be confusing for pneumatic simforce users.

I found the problem with the valve that has never worked! One of the eight coils on the four 5/3 valves was 24V, not 12V which I use. So it is not broken I just have to connect that coil to a 24V source. :) Where is my other 12V - hobby battery..... I think I saw it somewhere last year....... hmmm....

EDIT: I just realized that one cannot have different voltages connected to the ULN2803 due to the flyback protection diodes connected to the COM output. A 24V source will connect trough this diode to the 12V that the other outputs are using. Seemes like I have to solder on another driver chip with COM to +24V. :(

    Hello folks! :hi:

Nothing much have happened with my sim lately. I use it once in a while, but I have to admin that I got one step further in driving realism. I bought myself an Ford Escort mk21979 car http://images.google.no/images?hl=no&q=ford+escort+mk2&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi :D (like the one in my avatar, just not rally prepped) I am rebuilding it with upgraded engine, suspension and so on. So I guess my spare time is consumed by the car... to bad for the sim, but the reality is the ultimate goal for the sim isnt it? Today I was going sideways in the snowy weather here with my car. :)

So I guess this is the end of my sim thread. I have learned a lot and thank you guys for your help. I will still monitor this thread and PM's if you want to contact me.

    :hi: The end! :hi:

Its obvious that you are not satisfied with your pneumatic system.
Imho you should consider to add some DC jacks to your frame :)

That is partly correct. I was considering an electric actuator solution, but then this car dream came true and the little spare time that I have left is now used in the garage! ;D It is not that simulation is not cool, it is just that reality is cooler!

    Take care folks!

    Hi SimHawk,
Could you make a photo of your pneumatic assembly please  ? if it's not already do...
    Thanks =)

    Thks a lot :)
You only use distributor 5/3 open and card velleman K0855 for pneumatic assembly?

I use 5/3 center closed and one Velleman K0855. And one way checkervalves for regulating exhaust port air flow. (Cylinder speed control)

The needle check valves controls the air flow and thus the cylinder speed. Pneumatic theory I found on the internet says that to control the force of the cylinder adjust the air pressure, to adjust the speed - adjust the airflow. And restrict it at the exhaust port (not input port) of the cylinder. See below for more info. :)

I found this on the web explaining the best way to control an air cylinder:

    hello
I need your help soon if you want it! well
your tire simulator work really well on the last video!
    I ordered 4 dealer 5 / 3 center, because I had 2 open center.
I'm in the stage settings, and I certainly need your experience.
for the matrix I already have a first test, there is progress on my post:
    simulator-frex-home-made-in-france-t469-130.html
    I have some questions:
the axes are offset by 45 °, it is not a problem with the information for direct X who are in the right direction?
if the right of the simulator is in the left corner ,and left in the game/direct x is in the normal left how move the simulator?
I do not understand this point!

    I have another question:
    After calibration, the simulator center?
I have no effect on the board Velleman after calibration, I did not feel that the simulator test center
    thanks

I do not know how to apply the effect to be in the right direction
have you a .rnr for my simulator Frex design?

    thank you
