Hi, sorry it does not work with the injector from shift 1..... Even if it did, this game has serieus issues regarding gfx. AA does not work and the most i can get from it is 30fps, and yes i tried everything... :thbd:

Need to wait for a patch i guess...

Solved for Windows 7 users ... EDIT: for AMD GPU's ;-)

    Install catalyst v11.4 early preview

    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pa ... eview.aspx

Running everything maxed out with full AA 1920x1080 @ 60fps

Still some graphical glitches but way better!

Now lets work on an injector file!!

Same here. NV Inspec did not work. Very bad anti aliasing and shadows are very poor.
Running gtx480 with i7920 overclocked to 4.2ghz so FPS is not a issue. Just the ant aliasing. Reminds me of PS3 :D

Too bad because it's like a completely different game for me now. The first hour I was ready to give this game a -5 rating and now 9.5.... with a decent ff for g25 and anti aliasing, this might be the best sim-arcade racing game I ever played. This game engine in the right hands could be something very special. Too bad they didn't get it right for release, I just don't understand how they could ship a game playing the way it did. Just 2 days ago I said well at least I have RF2 and Dirt 3 to look forward to, but now you can't get me away from it. Hope we can a profile up and running for this game, my rig is getting dusty!
GTX 460 270.51 drivers AMD 2CORE 3.0ghz vista 32 ave. 30-45 fps The thing that made the biggest improvement was getting the 2x sparse grid supersampling running in nvidia profile.

    Check this out : http://www.virtualr.net/need-for-speed- ... -released/
The handling minimod fixed all the steering lag issues I had.
Before that, I tried fidgeting with the advanced options (sensitivity) to no avail. It was more driveable than Shift1 already but still very weird.
S2U is a completely new game with this mod

I really don't understand why SMS releases their games with such terrible wheel settings when a simple mod released 24h after release can fix the stuff??? :thbd:

I agree, this mod feels good but with 360 degrees ... :thbd:

As for the game, the graphics are superb, the game runs very smooth now with v11.4 of amd drivers and I can't wait to add motion... Accelerations feels very good and the car sounds are deep! A must to have is the camera control mod to change you camera settings live ... Essential to get really immerse, I don't like the default cockpit cam positions ...

The colours are great, the opponants cars look real ... AI is still stupid and will often bumps you in corners but this is moddable...

I love it and currently unpacking my installation to see what can be tweaked ...

It's getting much more closer to a sim, I like it ...

    @Fahim: what are your fps?

@Hobbs77: do you have a screenshot of the nv inspector ?

Yesterday i tried shift one again to compare game preformance as it should be the same game engine..... I am getting constant 60 fps vsync on, everything on max, smooth as butter.

Why oh why does shift2 suck so bad at gfx preformance... :thbd:

Well my frames are 60fps v-sync and drop to 52-53 down the Japan home straight.
I need to sort out ANTI-aliaising because this game graphically potentially is incredible.

    I7 920 Duo @ 4.2GHZ Processor
    Corsair Dominator 6GB 1866mhz Ram
GTX 480 Nvidia Zotac Graphics (over clocked to 920mhz)

    EDIT: Just improved anti-aliasing.

I did not use the nv inspector way. I just put game option anti aliasing on high

Then went into nvidia control panel and enchanced the application and put the anti aliasing in control panel to 16Q

Do not use the override in NVCP when the game is already on high it just locks the game up i.e 2-3fps when driving.

Now this game looks sweet to me and wets my appetite for GTR3.

I did, i even read the hole thread at 3dguru... the flag hex just does not work with me, also Fahim's way does not work, i get no more then 10 fps with that.

I will try again using a different driver version.

Sorry my way was to improve anti-aliasing not FPS.

To be honest F1 2010, Dirt 2, and now this NFS shift 2 have taken graphics to another level.

Developers are giving hints that you need to invest in better machines with higher graphics cards.

It seems the devs and Nvidia, ATI etc work together in way to move things foward and keep the money rolling in.

Why would they keep making ways for these games to run on lower cards. They want you to folk(spend) out the money.

For PC users, this is the disadvantage (Expense).

Yeah, but maybe i overlooked one.

Anyway, the AA trick works but i do not get above 20fps with AA on.

I know, but the thing is that those games work great on my machine, to be honest almost every game works without a sweat steady 60 fps (v-sync on i hate it without) everything on high/ultra=max

Last thing to try is running it in dx9

BTW: my GTX 295 is a still beast these days, though lacking dx11, but i don't care, i bet you Dirt3 will work just fine :brows:

    Cheers

EDIT: force dx9 does not do anything, i give up, i will play this game again when there is a patch.... :badpc:

What do you mean by that ?
I'm using 360 degrees indeed, what is the problem ?

Yup, can't wait to add motion either :)

This is making me crazy, hope that can be modded indeed... it's the only real gripe I have with S2U at this point.

Definitely much better than Shift1, 100% agreed ;)

    Silly.

Not related to this mod but seems like the game was designed to be played with 360 degrees wheel setting ... not very realistic for most of road cars and gives this 'arcade' feeling ... It's just a question of time until someone comes out with a good mod for controller ...

As for AI, it's definitely something moddable ...
