    Hello All,

I'm Rens from the Netherlands. I have my own gamestudio which develops games for the internet, tablets en phones. So you can say I'm intrested in gaming.
I had to sell my MX-5 racer last year and since then i've been looking for a new thrill. It seems a simulator looks like a great way to have some fun.

Stuff i've had lying around from other projects. Velleman K8055, two wheelchairmotors + Gearing, Racing Seats (BucketSeats) and a Sabertooth Motorcontroller (2x12).
So i've already got some of the more important parts.
Things i'm gonna need: The steeringwheel + pedals, a frame, and some gears.

I want a +45 -45 degrees for both longitudinal and lateral forces.
Below is my design for now. I know I miss some crossmembers. But it's a start to see if All the angles are possible.

It's made up from 3 different frames.
The blue frame is the base.
The green frame is for lateral forces
The Red frame is for longitudinal forces
The grey blops are the engines i've got
The yellow discs are the gears/sprockets i'm going to use.

The engines are 160RPM (without the gearbox).
    meaning 936 degrees a second.
I want my simulator to move from one end to the other in 1 second.
    so -45 to +45 = 90 degrees in 1 second.
Meaning i'm going to need a 1:10 Gearing ratio.
I'm not sure if it's going to work like that... but will see.

    Hi Rens,

thanks for start presenting your project.
I have a full working set of G25 pedals and shifter left. Also a broken G25 steering wheel. Maybe a good start for you :)

    Regards
    René

    Hello René,

What's wrong with the steering wheel?

    Regards,

    Hi,

does not move anymore. FFB motor driver seems to be broken. Maybe you get a used g25 wheel cheap at the bay.

I've received some goodies over the last few days.
Also i've been testing my velleman and Sabertooth.

Here are my motors + Gearboxes (1:25) and Sabertooth all connected for testing.
But the best thing is my PSU. its 24volts and 20AMPS! it weighs 14 kilo's and delivers a great deal of power.
Also, my testing supply couldn't handle the regenerative volts of the sabertooth. This one doesn't have a problem with it at all.

But as always... pictures say more then words.

Yesterday i've received an package from Germany from Raceray.
In it was a broken G25 steeringwheel, some lose pedals and a shifter.
I've already bought an 2nd hand broken G25 steeringwheel.
So after about 1-2 hours of tinkering in the shed, I know have one complete and working G25 set.

I had some troubles with it not wanting to calibrate, but after replacing the sensorunit on the back of the motor, it worked like a charm!

Dirt 3 is a totaly different experience with the G25 (more difficult).

In the next month i'll be renovating my new house, so no time to build the cockpit. But i'll be back! :)

    Hi Rens,

the G25 is still fantastic, regardless how old it is in the meantime. I tested some steering wheels in the past and the feeling of the G25 is one of the best imho. Good to see, that you get it in a working condition.

Hope to see more from you when you are done with your house project :)

    Best regards
    René
