Many of us are excited about transducer support being developed for SimTool: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/aura-shaker-ast-2b-4-with-bk-g2-amp.6981/#post-80343

While traditional traducers add a great deal to the simulation experience there is also fine level haptic work that is also interesting, such as RigNewton, an Opensource project aimed at bringing low latency high definition haptics to your hands, fed off the wheel data in games like Assetto Corsa: http://rignewton.com/

The RigNewton developer has formally launched the embryonic project as open source and is actively looking for developer participation.

Interestingly he mentions targeting transducer support as the first primary release target and makes passing reference to control of motion simulators, so the planned use is expanding from the initial focus on haptics.

Always awesome to see more players in the arena.

It "sounds" (haha) very interesting but I think I don't really get all the meaning of this rig.
If I well understand, this project aims to deliver sound vibrations to material that would be worn by the driver and these sound vibrations would be updated by game engines?

When you touch the screen of a smart phone or tablet and 'feel' a response that is haptic feedback. While a speaker vibrates air a similarly designed haptic dive produced specific vibrations to create sensations.

Right, I understand the meaning now of haptic but in case of a racing simulator, where does this system would be used? In wheel leather? Under the seat?

There are complex haptic systems that can create individual wheel bumps, gear changes, engine vibrations and the like. Haptics really compliment motion simulation.

Most transducers are mounted in various places around the frame. But RigNewton is for fine haptics related to the hands, which is something new.

Ok, I think I get how it works and how it could improove sim experience. Thanks for clarifications.
Wait and see what's will come out after some development
