Before you start presenting your motion simulator project think about two things:
    • Pictures are worth more than 1000 words, so take as many pictures as you can from any progress of work.
    • Videos of a fully assembled simulator are a perfect addition to them.
    Some important hints:

Try to use the Upload a File button below the posting area, so your images will be uploaded to the XSimulator site and automatically archived for a long time. Your project pictures will be (hopefully) available as long as XSimulator exists and no broken pictures destroy your project presentation in future.

    • Click on Upload a File -> Choose File -> Add the file
    • You are allowed to select more than 1 file at once. CTRL+Click

Now, you are prepared to place the images wherever you want:
Set your cursor on a desired textline and click on Thumbnail of Full Image
    Done!

If you like to inline publish non-image attachments like *.pdf *.zip etc you have to upload the attachment the same way like images but you must use a bbcode

Find out the imageID when you are hovering the mouse over the uploaded image thumbnails and look at the link,e.g.

    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/attachments/platform-hardware-small-jpg.7524/
In this case the imageID is 7524.

If you don´t place it inline, all your picture or regular attachments are published below the project description which is fine for smaller projects but for very detailed and well explained projects.

    Hi RaceRay,

I tried to upload my pictures just like you described above but it keep saying:

    The following error occurred

There was a problem uploading your file.

    IMG-20130531-WA0002.jpg 75kb

I tried different pictures size and format. I keep getting this same message.

    Any clue ?

    Welcome @headbangersball.

There is plenty to read under member projects and FAQs. It is then a good idea to start your own project thread, post any ideas or questions that you may have. There are lots of helpful and experienced members here who can then chip in with advice.

Thanks for the information. I intend to show my own project soon starting with pictures of my pathetic effort without help followed by photos and details of the one I am going to build with the help of XS.

When should a build thread have the prefix "Showroom" in the title? I've noticed some have it and some don't, and there doesn't seem to be a pattern. My guess would be if you are presenting a completed project, it should be marked "Showroom" but if you are documenting a build in process, then it shouldn't?

I get what you mean but to add to the complexity sometimes a finished sim then gets rebuilt in a significantly different way.

Both @Pit and I have recently done that. So something which was 'finished' sometimes has significant changes because members can be tinkers who will never be fully satisfied and add new and interesting functionality at unpredictable times.

I tried to post a video to my project showing it working but it just put the thumbnail up. This is literally the only forum I am or have ever subscribed to so I'm a total newb, Is there something I'm missing? I used the upload a file to post it.

If it is a youtube video can click on the icon above where you are typing the reply it looks like two pieces of old fashioned film one behind the other (third on the left from the smiley icon) and enter the youtube url between the brackets.
