PC gamers are not the target market for the Quest, rather it is more akin to a 6DOF enabled Oculus Go.

It will likely to be up to 4 years before we see a Rift with all of the functionality the Oculus Chief Scientist Michael Abrash just covered at Oculus Connect 5: https://old.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/9jawnl/abrashs_new_oc5_predictions_compiled_and/

Abrash's predictions don't mean that there will not be another Rift before 2022, but rather all the features he covered are not likely to be fully realised until 2022, in particular the challenge is eye tracked foveated rendering.

So........will this work for PC sim racing as it stands now? Better resolution on the Quest, I'd like to try it.

I don't think so and if it does what about the motion rig movements without sensors ?

It will not work natively with PC games, the Quest is a standalone unit more akin to mobile VR.

Darn. Can't wait for better resolution while racing.

At the moment that would be Pimax, which has just started shipping to backers, but it is pretty much a brute force approach requiring very high hardware, and even then sim games will need to use the software reduced 150 degree FOV, rather than the 170 degree FOV the Pimax is capable of.

It's cool to see how different VR systems are pushing the boundaries. It's always a balance between hardware and software capabilities, but the future of VR is exciting
