If it worked I imagine it would be cool for flight sims, but not so much for racing.

in the past, a member has already made a simulator in a sphere
    I did not find image

Do you recall how it was driven? I would think a sphere gives pitch and roll but lacks heave and bump type simulation.

The lack of heave and bump would be provided by a good motion profile with low numbers in the " Tuning centre" and in "Axis Assignments". This is assuming that the sim is well balanced.

Looks comfortable. Definitely the winner for a design-furniture contest...and yes, very ambitious, but not so bad at all.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Heave will be an optional add on once the base unit is working and there is plenty of room for tactile transducers.

I'm also running a raffle on the site to help drum up support for the Kickstarter, so put in your name and you can win one!

    Hi traveltrousers.

You may want to pose some of the questions on your website to this forum, such as motor options, as there are some exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful members here.

Yeah, it's a good idea. Now I'm sure the panels are affordable I've started looking more at the motors and there are a million options.

    Ciao @traveltrousers
Una piccola descrizione sarebbe gradita della foto che hai messo:)
Cos'è una trasmissione a catena con rulli... e come funziona?

Puoi spiegare anche cosa sono i trasduttori tattili?

    Hello @traveltrousers
A small description of the picture would be appreciated that you put :)
What is a transmission chain with rollers ... and how does it work?

You can also explain what are the tactile transducers?

    Um, sorry :)

It's an idea to rotate my sphere, instead of using omniwheels I mount a series of rollers to a regular chain, which massively increases the traction for very little cost...

A tactile transducer is a speaker that doesn't produce noise but rather low fequency vibrations, such as a 'buttkicker'.

Ah .. so it would be a good solution and also economic. :thumbs
I knows that some time ago I have forgotten how to search on google .... Buttkicker :grin
But I do not see how you're going to simulate the lifting and collision with a tactile transducer .. I do not think you get the same feeling .. okay to have the vibration of the gearbox or engine but do not think for lifting and impact and this at least what I think .;)

Yes, but heave motion is 'expensive' as you need powerful motors to lift the platform. I will add this as an optional add on when the platform is successful.

Era quello che non riuscivo a capire... come facevi a simulare il sollevamento... quindi una struttura apparte optional :thumbs scusami ma ne tradurre il testo avevo capito male.;)

It was what I could not understand ... how did you simulate the lift ... then a structure belonging optional:thumbs I'm sorry but I translate the text I had misunderstood. ;)

I've been working on the base concept.

I will probably add a couple of omnichains to control yaw too...

It certainly is an interesting approach, do you plan doing a working model prior to a prototype?

It will probably be several.... I guess I need to lock in the design first :p
