    Before I will update any new testing results I can already say if I had to build FlightSim or heavy 3/4DOF - these bike jacks are extremely solid and well working. A disadvantage is the needed slide bearing for little bit smoother spinning, this could(?) be added but needs a lot of tinkering for sure. Material cost so far: $ 75.- the jack, $ 40.- for the winch motor, $20 for the solid coupler (which is cheaper to get, but better solid than cheap...), 135.- bucks for a complete actuator (without universal joints, rods etc etc etc.).

    How noisy is the jack @Pit and do you have any idea of the actual load carrying capacity yet?

    You have got me thinking about my father, who only does flight simulation. I was just going to add transducers for him when Game Vibe is out, but perhaps 3DOF could be on the cards.

    Mate the jack is not noisy, my jack is mounted on a wooden board, so noise is almost unnoticeable, if the jack will be put on the floor, the noise should be completely absorbed. Unfortunately I cannot demonstrate the jack by uploading a video, the motor driver makes troubles and I still need more a ball bearing.

    Something to check, are the threads on that screw ACME? Or standard metric/ANSI? ACME threads would probably yield smoother movement and less resistance.

    Here we go, the test succeed using the Sabertooth 2x32. This motor driver is a monster. I can stand on the seat and it works as there is no weight on the seat. Just at the same speed, I do not recall the troubles and bad experiences with MMs and VNH5019s................the jack makes no remarkable noise. On my rig you can see little vibrations, this is coming from the wooden layers (surge and sway). Please do not look at the lack of black paint, this part is covered by other parts (foot plate). At least there is more potential for tuning options, in my case the vibrations The potentiometer is mounted to the seat plate and not to the scissor jack, eventually I should add it to the latter. I dunno if the gas strut is necessary, but it was lying around and fitted perfectly without modification.

    Thanks matey, unfortunately I'm running into the next issue, the winch motor gets incredibly hot, after 10 minutes driving it is going to stall (and going to die if I do nothing against the heat generation). It's always the same, taking two steps forward means one back...lol

    When motor is getting to hot, did you try to turn screw by hand.
    This motor jack is build for a very low duty cycle with low rpm.
    Heat is able to lock nuth and screw.

    Mate, honestly I can't really follow you, these are 750W 12V winches, at full load they could draw up to 120A, though the Sabertooth is limited to 60A for a few seconds the motors get extremely hot under full load. The motor was not cooled by a fan yet. At least I'm going to drill a few holes into the motor case wherever it is possible for better cooling. The next time when (or if) the motor gets hot I will try to turn the thread by hand to check this out.

    PS; the coupler are 10NM torque certified. Should be fine....

    Whel youre 750watt motor should lift 200kg easy, but it dont,
    So i looked at someting else.
    When screw and nut becomes to hot they need more force to turn and this can overheat youre motor!

    Did a lot of work yesterday, indeed the thread is spinning much easier now, I drilled a bunch of wholes into the motor, added two fans making a wind channel. Now it's smooth like butter, the motor shouldn't overheat anymore. Photos will follow ASAP

    The noise is about what I would expect, so a bit noisier than direct DC lever motors, but quieter than a winch.

    Yes, it's not that loud, the leverage is incredible. You could put a full frame cockpit on three of these jacks.
