    great!
how is the feeling for you?

what is the volume of the gas strut?

The first impression is great, because you get a continuous cornering force from right direction (compared to traction loss with creates a short force from wrong direction), The cylinder diameter is 160 mm with 200mm travel (approx. 200 ml air per cm ) but I use momentarily only the 100-120 mm travel from the standard SFX-100 actuator.

imo important using only one pneumatic cylinder instead of two is a switched air vent valve for the opposite side, preventing negative pressure forces.

If the piston moves, it creates over pressure on either side and under pressure on the other. Meaning that the opposite side of the piston must be open to atmosphere, otherwise it is not possible to blow up pads completely.

Beautiful! I read you on the discord, I'm building mine too, with a 125x300mm, only thing for the valve I think you are the first to mention it, I didn't understand where it should be put, and what exactly is it, do you have a link to buy it?

Edit: Ok I've seen the video a few times and figured out where the valve is and how you activate it, like a limit switch, so this allows you to fill one side without over-emptying another right? very interesting.

Proximity Pneumatic Valve with Momentary Palm Button: MSV-98322R
The MSV-98322R is a manual pneumatic directional valve with a three-way operation & three ports (P = Pressure, A = Outlet, EA = Exhaust for port A). Three-way, two-position valves are generally used to fully extend a single acting (spring return) cylinder, or in applications with similar operation.

I haven't yet figured out how your system works with only one (and not 2) valve for exaust...
and why this simple system doesn't work? :)

one side of the piston creates pressure, the other under pressure (vacuum), so creating a force that prevent the piston can not reach high movement, maybe it can damage the seals.

why not ,Frex knows what they are doing they invented the scn5 seatmover.
A closed system is active, sucks air out, its only displacement with this.
It wont damage seals becauce the forces are low compared to normal pneumatic use
Its Pascal,s law here (is given with fluid but works the same with air)

for the sake of the discussion, I would say that there is a drawback with 1 big jack and 4 bladders in series
versus 4 smaller jacks with 1 bladder each.

In the first case, there will be a delay between the bladders depending on the weight pushing on it.
If one bladder is against the thigh (hard to push) and another one against the rib (easy to push) then the rib bladder will inflate until the pressure goes up and only after a threshold, the thigh bladder will be inflated. So the thigh feedback will be delayed...

I would say the frex system has in middle position (no g-force) both sides of cushions half-full, that is the reason of the two bellow pumps, shifts in cornering a little amount of air, less than vacuum, from one side to the other. In my solution in middle position all cushions are regular completely empty (vent to atmosphere) and I can pump one side even if it burst, means that the dynamic range is much greater.

some space optimizing, and sintered bronze bushes instead of linear bearing to gain 2x70mm displacement

does this system blow up one side or the other ?

do you have bags under and behind the driver too ?

have you worked out how much volume is needed in the piston ?

The system blows up both sides depending on curve, means left corner right side, right corner left side.
For now, no bags in back maybe in future.I guess the volume per bag about 250 ml.
