    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF, Arduino
Hi, I show my project to transform this old arcade cabinet 2dof driving in a simulator.
The initial project was based on introducing a PS3 and G27.
After a standing time, discovered the DIY simulators.now I'M decided to modify the concept of motion and give the seat.
    This is the current state

The idea is to remove the red wooden base and put in the drawer (the drawer is steel) base movement.
    Leaving only the seat.
The height of the drawer is 20ctm, plus 9 cmt to the chair, so that the structure should be between 28 and 30 ctm in total.

Hope you like the concept and forgive my poor translation.

Looks great man, real good idea, may I suggest something like this for a seat conversion, nice and compact
    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/desk-racer-2dof.5326/
    deskracer.jpg
and for reference, I converted this to an "arcade" machine as well

And by the way, the photos do not open in the external link you provided when I click the photos.

Sorry, there is a "download image" button...duh...
    Cheers, Dave.

BSFT, I have seen your simulator and I really like the concept.
As I am limited by the space inside the drawer of the machine, is one of the options do I shuffle.
The other I've seen in the other forum (I will not say what I mean his name is not well seen).
I bought some wiper motors scrapping, but I could not give me a good performance, so I finally bought a smolka such as racingmat.
For the electronic part, my first choice was a Monster motor shield and arduino uno.
But after burning one in an oversight, I decided to buy two Ibt-2 and two HP dps-600 sources.
I maje them work AT 24V and I'm waiting for the H. bridges.
The control board will remain arduino.
Be In The Running electronics I would put the Platform scam.
I will update on the progress.

    Regards, Manuel

    Hi Manuel,
i have a sega rally 2 cabinet and your project is very very in interesting!

Now i have put the pc in the cab but i have the original monitor arcade yet.
What kind of lcd have you put in the cab?

I am thinking of moving the cab too but i don't know if is possible to move all the cabinet or only the seat.

    Regard,
    Simone

Siantic Hello, I'm glad you like it and also have a similar project.
For the screen I chose a lg32LM611S since it is easy to remove the outer shell and leave the inner frame, which gives the proportion.
But it's not that easy, you have to do serious work of restructuring the bezel with fiberglass and resin.

Whether moving the whole machine or just the couch, not that it is the most expert in weight and actuators or motors, but as you know, the structure of your Sega is very similar to mine and weigh well, which move is not impossible but much more costly in labor and investment.
I at the time I raised the same question tu.tras search actuators to move those weights the discarding its high price.
And AC motors and assumed much space that I do not have.
So I was inclined to just move the couch.

For any questions or concerns, I'll be here.

    A greeting

    Hi Manuel,
    thanks for your availability.

You are right, the structure of Sega cabinet is very heavy.
So the easiest solution is to move only the seat.
How many motors is possible to connect?

Do you have finished your project?

Do you know other threads where users have made to move the arcade cabinet that i can read?

    Thanks

The engines?'m Going to install two, with a simple 2DOF I think it serves me well.
Surely if you study further you can include the third motor for a 3DOF, but on this machine, I think plenty of the third axis.

I'm halfway through my development, I still build the structure for motors and gimbal, which introduce under the seat and hold her to the base with through bolts.

I know, mine is the first of its kind (that I know of, if there is I do not know).
I hope it will inspire more people.

Then you have some structure the publishes and if it's any help, because I will rejoice if you can take advantage of something.

nothing wrong with that posting another image, but try to mention whom it belongs to though
that will work as well. something else I have already done in the past

I found that desk racer motor mounts work better though as they are higher up to help overcome centre of gravity.
Your choice what you would like to do

The owner of this structure is pipis2014,the is still in the process of building your simulator.still does not have video of his movement.
Even i have to decide for the mount to make.so i don't limit myself to no suggestion,on the contrary,Thank you.I understand that this latter structure that i samples, works best with the center of gravity. If I am not mistaken, this is due to the push rods are placed in the corners of the platform.which helps the center of gravity work more easily.am I right?

    sort of.
Ive been through 11 designs, and found desk racer motor mounts the best for compact frame. Motors underneath tend to struggle a bit more with heavier person

Why? Because I think to start my first simulator is a good start.
Once finished, sure I have solved many problems and do not want to complicate it finds it much.
Currently I am unemployed, do not reach the H bridges aliexpress ......

yes, just makes it expensive as opposed to a normal seat mover, different gearboxes, calculated spring to assist holding. Also with a seat mover with such lift, it will feel weird to have your feet getting lifted off the pedals.

    Hi bsft,
you are right... the feeling will be weird having your feets on the pedals that do not move.

    @Petar2 you'll use 12V or 24V motors?
and what type of pcb (JRK Pololu, H-Bridge or Monster Motor) to control them?

@bsft what are the best motors and pcb?
