    Hello,

My name is Rocco Orlando, and I am a retired US Army Veteran who recently battled with Mental Health and am now setting up a team to race in IMSA in order to help raise awareness for the mental health crisis, as well as connect veterans with the care they deserve.

I will be racing in the IMSA VP Racing Sports Car Challenge later this summer, and am looking to upgrade my already sophisticated racing simulator.

I was referred to this community by Christopher Knauf, whom you all may know, as there are plenty of articles and videos on this site that go into detail is custom built 6DOF motion system that he used to help develop some Goodyear tires.

I am not a “DIY Guy” and have almost no skill set for building or upgrading a simulator. I purchased my Rig from PRO-SIM of the UK, and their reseller, Cool Performance. Cool Performance is owned and operated by Oliver Norris, who is Lando Norris’ big brother. Oliver Norris is also my driving coach.

I am now in the market for Motion as well as VR, as I desiring a higher level of immersion that my current setup is just not providing. I feel when I go into the sim now to train, that is more of a JOB and a CHORE, than a fun and immersive experience. I need to be training approx 1.5hrs-2hrs per day, and I am finding it harder and harder to go into the sim room and train, as it’s just not as exciting. However, I MUST train, and I am hoping that by reaching out to this community, I can get some guidance as to what my next steps should be, and how I should implement a new motion system onto my existing rig.

I am currently in the market for a motion system, and am looking at either the D-Box Gen 5 4250i or the Qubic Systems QS-220 and QS-CH2 in tandem.

Again, I am not a tech savvy person, and I know f**! All about building a motion rig via DIY. I am looking to this community to help guide me through the process, and hopeful there is a Plug and play solution here that I can hire someone to help set everything up, whether that be the reseller themselves, and some sort of white glove service, or possibly through this community, where someone would be interested in contracting with me to help get the system up and running and can educate me on how to trouble shoot some basic problems that I may run into.

I think the people on this forum are incredibly knowledgeable, but also, and most importantly, very kind and not quick to judge. So I am hoping everyone will be nice and offer some great guidance while understanding that I need to be spoken to like a Golden Retriever, and not a experienced and savvy sim racer as many of you are.

Thank you and I look forward to speaking with all of you on this little adventure I am partaking in.

    Very Respectfully,

    Rocco Orlando

    My Motion Simulator:
    3DOF, DC motor, JRK
There are a variety of commercial motion rigs available, but not all support the likes of SimTools and FlyPT, such as D-Box. If you are happy to be locked into a particular propriety system that is fine, but not something members here are likely going to be able to help out with.

So my first suggestion is to have a poke around in the Commercial rig section and ask questions about various rigs that are there, depending on your needs and preferences: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/commercial-simulators-and-peripherie.52/
