HTC today announced a tether-less VR upgrade kit for its SteamVR device, made by TPCAST, one of the first of 33 companies to join the Vive X Accelerator. A preview version of the kit was shown off today at Alibaba’s “11/11” global shopping festival in Shenzhen, China. This is not the wireless prototype device in the works at Quark VR.

Lets hope something similar for Oculus. The Vive add on lasts 90 minutes, not bad,,,

Oculus demoed a wireless HMD at Oculus Connect but from what I understood it was a little more constrained in being pitched between mobile VR and the Rift.

It's nice for those who play standing, because for us that mostly use it in our seats, that stuff on the back on our head wouldn't be nice

It would depend what you are doing.

You could do a walk around pre-flight visual check or hop into and out of a car.

We have not had this sort of technological possibility before, so currently there is not unique content for it, but I am guessing there will be. A roomscale pit crew is one possibility, as would live team driver changes for simulated endurance events.

I mean, I would probably crash the box on the back hitting the seat at the first lap @ nordschleife :)

That connector box can be located anywhere, on the HMD is just one option and many won't put it there because of the weight, you can just put it in a pocket instead, or arm band or belt.

Thank you very much for the links

But I can not make a correct translation and I do not find the place to be able to register and make a precomande!

I hope only that there are still parts available :(

Have you done the registration and if so can you put me the direct link on the place where have to register for the commissioned? It would be really nice

The first pre-order opened late last year and was only available in China, it sold out in 18 minutes.

The TPCAST wireless kit has not been certified for international sales, so is not yet available.

Not at release, though others are working on similar solutions that will include the Rift: http://kwikvr.com/

Wow very interesting, but it takes a lot of space at home to play, at least an exclusive room for this.:popcorn

That is a misnomer, it can be used seated, standing or full roomscale.
