My levers are set to 40 degrees up and 40 degrees down. Over that and effective torque utilization drops off rapidly, and with a compact rig like mine effective use of torque is really important.

I use Hall sensors, which won't break if over rotated, and my rig is designed so that levers won't hit anything if the did over rotate.

What will happen when I give 24V?

Or set the clipping limit to 0??

I have replaced the bended rod and want to try out with Life for speed again.

A big step further guys. Here is my first ride.

The 2dof is completely new feeling..

Because of some reason the traction loss didn't work anymore. Maybe I need a new IBT2 or something in the wiring is wrong.

Nice, Your upper frame is PRO, I wish You same on lower frame.
About IBT - I burn some 6 of them and now use 2 on one motor.
Now I have issues too on my rig but I will describe later when will be fixed.

You said that the join is to high, now when mowements is known - You can cut it to shorter one.

    First ride done congratulations :)

Here you can see the problem of the ujoint, which has loosing any ideas ? The srew is 6x60mm for wood and high force.

Edit: can someone explain me the difference between heave acceleration and surge? I just zapped through the plugins and there are for racing games the force "heave acceleration" and is this the heave section of simtools axis settings? Or a extra2 or 3?

Honestly wood is not a great choice for parts subject to great force, like the pivot post, mounts or leavers, as it can deform, consider steel instead. If you must use wood consider a steel end cap threaded for the U-Joint to bolt to, that extends down the sides and clap bolts with something like 12mm bolts, running through steel tubular inserts inserted into the timber.

These are the main forces and which way SimTools expects them to be configured, in a 2DOF heave, sway and surge can be simulated and SimTools can mix those and all other axis on the fly: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/which-way-to-set-simtool-axis-movements.230/

    do you mean this?

    220px-Гровер2.png L-schraubensicherung1.png

Arielnac and early_m are both using wood. Thats why I am try wood, and is easyer for me to work with.

Yeah I know, but I thought, surge is for accelaration and not heave? But on the racing games plugins is like "pitch, roll, yaw and surge, sway, heave acceleration. Extra1 = Traction Loss" what does it mean heave + acceleration?

I mean is "Heave" in simtools what it mean with "heave accelaration":?

No that is not what I meant, rather what I had in mind is something similar to what I did when needing to bolt things to pretty thin box aluminum, which was to use a tube sleeve that the bolt passes through:

I think others using heave acceleration to describe say the movement of a spaceship, which is not really an axis force as such, is confusing you. Stick with the earlier supplied link as to relevant forces. Traction Loss, on Extra1, describes where you have a pivot near the feet and the rear of the rig can move in an arc to simulate the rear end of a car breaking loose, like a drift car does.

    Hi
In Your temporary lower wood frame... :)
Fill the gap in joint suport by metal busching or plastik, hevy gum pipe...

What do you think about to fill the gap with hot glue?

Try tightening the screws in different directions, a bit vertical, maybe it'll help them limiting the rotation.

Have a Question how can I calcualte the best position or distance to to the ujoint?

Actual the ujoint is from the baste plate in a height of 32cm, the motor shaft position is 11.5cm height from the base plate the CTC is 6.74 cm and the horizontal distance from ujoint to lever 47cm.

Is there a online Linkage simulator, that I can simulate and find out by the range of 170 degree how far the motion can be? At the moment I am not satisfied for the surge effect. And as I mention before, I have to go with try and error. Cause I don't know how to make the design. The only constant are the lengt of the ctc. And I want a platform motion sim.

From weigt proportion You can say where the balnce point is, You can put upper frame on floor, put rear on weight measurement and seat on rig, read the weigt , same on front . exemple rear have 60 kg and front have 40kg ... if frame is 100cm long than 40cm from rear is Your balance.

    Prototype 2.0

So after the first prototype with old wood from a computer desk I build the real deal with the materials chipboard and Multiplex mention before:
    PXL_20220218_173702906.jpg

Stabilized with 2 additional M8 rods:
    PXL_20220218_213130668.jpg

Add the pivot and ball bearings:
    PXL_20220218_230724201.jpg PXL_20220219_003144237.jpg

And the 3mm silent board at the ground plate:
    PXL_20220219_004401668.jpg

Ujoint plus power supply and electronics:
    PXL_20220219_191859265.jpg

And finally the full assembled in compact form:
    PXL_20220220_095757404.jpg

    to-do:

    1. Replace the base with Alu profile or steal
    2. Lower the ujoint because of risk fell over
    3. Add stop when the motors is powered off so the sensor don't go over 180 degree
    4. Cable Management :)
    5. Add mechanism to fast holding the pedall mount in parking position, now it is an elastic band.
    6. Houndered of hours fine tuning
First impressions of my ride in VR was unbelievable mindblowing. I figured out to have bass shaker working as well but they irritate me totally so I switch it off. I will go later only with engine RPM and road texture I think... but deactivate road bumps and curbs.. I can not go back.. first I try the wheel in a desk, can't go back to controller, then rig at 2010 and can't go back to desk, then 2021 VR and can't go back to flat, then bass shaker and can't go without, and finally 2dof plus traction loss an can't go back and have to refine the bass shakers.

In the video below you will see the whole sim moves forward and sideways. I am afraid to lock the wheels, because I think it can fell over what is your suggestion?

Thanks for sharing the updates for your rig :thumbs

Just a suggestion, but consider locking castors, as currently the rig moves and that will mask fine motion details.

    Hello all here.

After very many months I sat down again in my rig and turned a par rounds. In the meantime I have changed to fanatec and added stoppers for the parking position.
    12285D2F-CC6E-4671-8B67-CE3B83B6DB61.jpeg 2F6496BF-E588-47A9-A2DD-79F03700702E.jpeg 4EF47385-11C6-4C23-BD0C-58381A30C962.jpeg
I bought some small anti-vibration mats at the hardware store and put them under each roller. And although all four rollers are locked, the movements are so strong that the rig moves further forward. Do you have any idea how I can make this mobile and stable at the same time?

I would like to ask 3 questions:
    1. Do you think four of the wheelchair motors 250W could carry my rig including me? At the moment i have two motors in front for 2dof pitch and roll and 1 at the back for Traction Loss. I would add two at the back to share the weight and have finaly the lovely heave effect. Like the linear actuators, but with rotational output.
    2. As I am using arduino uno and SMC 3, I am not sure if there are 5 PWM output, I am pretty sure, that tthere are 5 analog input for the poti.
    3. If not may i can add a second arduino uno? And have in simtools 2 interfaces?
    Thanks for you help

The startup current from the motors kill my circuit breakers/fuse when I switch on the power of the multiple socket.
Anyone Idea how to make a box for the switches?

If I use plastic box how to cutout? with tool like this one?:

Yes a drill and a dremel would be ideal tools to make switch box cut outs.
