    My Motion Simulator:
3DOF, DC motor, Arduino, Motion platform
Hi, thank you for reading. I am having trouble with the 3DOF I am building. This is my first rig. Right now, I have movement on Axis 1a and Axis 2a, but no movement on Axis 3a (traction loss) in output testing. This motor/axis3a works great in SMC3 though. I also get movement in Axis 1a and Axis 2a in LFS, but again, no traction loss or movement whatsoever on Axis 3a. One thing that is strange as well, every time I start close and restart Simtools (reboot computer), the Interface Output on the Axis Assignments Tab loses the third axis I have typed in, even though I save it every time. Also I do not see a way to test the third axis output in Simtools?

I am on Windows 10 Pro 64bit, I have disabled firewall and antivirus (Windows). I have reinstalled Simtools, and have restarted the PC many times. I am at a loss and would appreciate any suggestions. Here are screenshots of my settings in Simtools a picture showing the loss of 3rd axis after I restart Simtools, and my SMC3 settings:

After I close and restart Simtools:

When I click the green save button, it seems like nothing happens. There is no confirmation message or pop up window.

    Do you have Extra1 configured?

I think so, is this how I would configure it? (From first picture in above post)

Is Extra1 configured in the Tuning Center as well?

Per your suggestion I tried my best to capture in tuning center. I spent about 3 hours today trying to figure out how to capture, Simtools kept losing my Interface settings and I was not able to capture. Eventually I lost all motion and got very discouraged. I took a few hours to work in the garage on a real car and cool off before I started smashing things. When I came back to it I removed and reinstalled Simtools, LFS, basically started again from scratch. I was able to finally save my interface settings and capture the Tuning values and now I have traction loss! Not sure what the problem was exactly but this is what I have now:

    upload_2022-12-16_21-18-36.png

Now it seems like I have way to much motion, traction loss is basically kicking in all over the track, not just when I lose the back end. Actually all of the motion seems quite exaggerated now. I'm not sure if it is because the only track I have access to is the Blackwood track when I did my capture. Thanks again for the suggestion. I will look now to figure out how to reduce some of the motion.

The TC settings work in conjunction with the amount of Axis Assignment allocations.

The larger the TC value the gentler and smoother the motion, over a greater range. Smaller is the opposite, very sharp motion.

So to make traction loss smoother, raise the value.

Once you have the basics sorted there are tips to further refine traction loss: https://xsimulator.net/community/faq/traction-loss-in-simtools.175/

    You don’t have axis3a configured!

    [A<Axis1a>][B< Axis2a>][C<Axis3a>]

Ahhh. I didn't know what button I clicked or what happened to allow me to eventually save it. I had no idea that it would not save a configuration unless you configured all of the axis you spec'd in the interface settings. Makes sense now! Thank you!
