Hi all, i finally have a cockpit coming together (no motion yet) and im wanting to have a go at getting a few basic gauges going, such as speed and RPM. As titled, the way i would like to do it, would be using Servos, as i am a RC hobbiest so have plenty lying about and also, it seems simple but i have a few questions.

What wil i need to do, or what else will i need to get in order to get the gauges working if i purchase on these:

    http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/servo-motors-card-p-42.html?cPath=21_32

I am currently using G25 and Rfactor.

    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Andy,

as i read, opencockpit hardware uses a own protocol to talk between fsuipc and their hardware. Its a client server system called IOCP. Afaik there isnt´any plugin for x-sim to use it.

It´s possible to write a interface plugin and it would be great to have it in X-Sim
    http://www.x-simulator.de/wiki/Writing_ ... ofiler_2.x

Maybe some of the opencockpit members is willing to do it, or you can convince sirnoname to do it ;D

Alternatively you can build elektronikjacks gauges interface:
    http://www.x-simulator.de/wiki/Tacho_Co ... tronikjack

But take care it is not done 100% and you have to talk with Elektronikjack before you start to build the interface.

You can also TronicGR´s AMC interface with servo support, but you should ask him what firmware or modfication is needed for a gauge interface.

    regards

Hi Raceray, thanks for the fast responce. Maybe im not as clued up as i though as i didnt know X-sim was something, thought i was just a forum about sims. I dont have or am not using x-sim, what is it?

I see loads of pics and vids on youtube of servo guages so surely it has to be easily possible.

Ill help where i can if need be, im an electrical and software engineer :)

    Cheers
    Andy

Soo, what your saying is, there isnt a way to control the servos via x-sim, or you could but there isnt an interfcace to do so?

    Thanks
    Andy

No there is many ways :D
    1) you can build DIY interface
    2) buy pololu servo interface (there is allready plugin so its almost plug and play)
    3) buy some other interface but you must write your own plugin for x-sim soft

    That´s sweet :D

The hole community is based uppon the X-SIM software. I think i have to make that more clear at the frontpage of our new site :D

Perfect.. you should start with the documentation of x-sim here: http://www.x-simulator.de/wiki/X-SIM_2. ... umentation

Than you have a good starting point and know the capabilities of the software.

    regards
